  3. 3. I feel terrible! Can you measure that? Exploring psychophysiological stress responses and their interactions with performance, subjective reports and health status

    Detta är en avhandling från Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Författare :Anna Sjörs; Torbjörn Falkmer; Björn Gerdle; Britt Larsson; Ulf Lundberg; [2010]

    Sammanfattning : Despite recent research advances, there are still several common medical conditions whose underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. In conditions with few or diffuse physical findings, it can be difficult to diagnose and determine the state of the condition and its effects on working ability or performance, and the health care practitioners have to rely on the patient’s self-reports. 5. 5. Psychotropic Pharmaceuticals in Aquatic Systems: An Ecological Perspective

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Biology, Lund University

    Författare :Melanie Hedgespeth; [2015]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ecotoxicology; aquatic; trophic level; pharmaceutical; SSRI; beta-blocker; sertraline; fluoxetine; propranolol; fish; daphnia; snail; predator; prey; behavior; life history; multiple stressor;

    Sammanfattning : Psychotropic pharmaceuticals have been shown to exert a variety of sublethal effects on non-target organisms, even at low concentrations found in the environment (ng/L to µg/L); hence, the aim of my research has been to determine the individual-level effects of psychotropic pharmaceuticals (the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors sertraline and fluoxetine, and the β-blocker propranolol) on behavioral and life history traits in freshwater organisms. Further, this research was directed towards assessing the potential large-scale impacts of these effects on population growth and predator-prey interactions (with community-level implications) via the application of traditional, ecological concepts and models.
