  1. 11. Cultural activities and health : Singer, patient, and healthcare staff perspectives. From feelings to biology

    Författare :Christina Grape Viding; Eva Bojner Horwitz; Töres Theorell; Walter Osika; Johan Hallqvist; Camilla Kylin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :arts; burnout; cultural activities; focus groups; health; healthcare staff; joy; singers; stress; wellbeing; women; Family Medicine; Allmänmedicin; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives. The aim of this thesis was to explore and illuminate possible associations between various cultural activities and assessments of well-being, health, stress and emotions in a didactic setting and healthcare settings for singers, patients, and healthcare staff. Material and methods. 2. 12. Vitreoscilla Haemoglobin. Genetic Fusions and Metabolic Characterisation

    Författare :Viktoria Roos; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; osmotic stress; transcript profiling; DNA microarrays; random elongation mutagenesis; directed evolution; mRNA structure; Vitreoscilla haemoglobin VHb ; Escherichia coli; salt stress.;

    Sammanfattning : Vitreoscilla is an obligate aerobic bacterium living in oxygen-poor environments such as stagnant ponds and decaying vegetable matter. Vitreoscilla expresses a homodimeric haemoglobin (VHb) when subjected to oxygen-limited conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 13. “I feel like I do not exist” : Adolescent Dissociative Experiences and the Importance of Trauma Type, Attachment, and Migration Background

    Författare :Sabina Gusic; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; adolescent; dissociation; trauma; attachment; war; refugee; posttraumatic stress; ungdomar; dissociation; trauma; anknytning; krig; flyktingar; posttraumatisk stress;

    Sammanfattning : After experiencing potentially traumatic events (PTEs) some adolescents develop pathological dissociation. Trauma-related dissociation can be described as a break-down of the individual’s capacity to integrate emotions, thoughts, sensations, and memories about traumatic or other events into an adaptive and coherent self-image and self-narrative. 4. 14. Macroalgae in the Baltic Sea : responses to low salinity and nutrient enrichment in Ceramium and Fucus

    Författare :Lena Bergström; Lars Ericson; Lena Kautsky; Erik Bonsdorff; Christine A Maggs; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; adaptation; asexual reproduction; Baltic Sea; Gulf of Bothnia; salinity; macroalgae; nutrients; sexual reproduction; stress; Ekologi; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; ekologisk botanik; Ecological Botany;

    Sammanfattning : The brackish Baltic Sea is a marginal environment for both marine and freshwater species. The rate of ecological differentiation is presumably high due to strong selection pressure from a gradient of decreasing salinity that has been present in its current state for only about 3 000 years. 5. 15. General stress proteins: Novel function and signals for induction of stationary phase genes in E.coli

    Författare :Örjan Persson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; general stress response; universal stress protein; sigma S; DNA damage; fructose-6-phosphate; ruvC;

    Sammanfattning : Survival during conditions when nutrients become scarce requires adaptation and expression of genes for maintenance in order for the cell to survive. Among the numerous proteins involved in adaptation and regulation under these conditions, the stationary phase sigma factor, σS, and the Universal stress proteins contribute to survival and bestow the cell with general stress protective functions during growth arrest.
