1. Quark Distributions and Charged Higgs Boson Production : Studies of Proton Structure and New Physics
Sammanfattning : The Standard Model describes all elementary particles known today, but at larger energies it will have to be complemented with new particles and interactions. To be able to distinguish new physics at proton colliders such as LHC at CERN, it is essential to have an appropriate description of the colliding protons and their interactions. LÄS MER
2. Production of strangeness in partonic interactions at the LHC
Sammanfattning : The strong interaction is responsible for nearly all observable baryonic matter in the Universe. Quantum Chromodynamics, which describes interactions between quarks and gluons, however, cannot be solved analytically in the non-perturbative regime, involving low momentum transfers. LÄS MER
3. Production asymmetry of strange quarks in electron-positron annihilation at LEP
Sammanfattning : The forward-backward asymmetry in the production of strange quarks in electron-positron annihilation has been measured at a centre-of-mass energy corresponding to the mass of the Z0 particle. The asymmetry at this energy is highly sensitive to the ratio between the vector and axial-vector couplings of the quark to the Z0 and to the value of the electroweak mixing angle sin2 θw. LÄS MER
4. Investigation of Quark Gluon Plasma-like signals with Lund string interactions
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the interactions that occur in extreme densities for high-energy collisions of subatomic particles. The theoretical models developed for this purpose are based on the Lund model. The developments have been implemented as a new module called Gleipnir to the Monte-Carlo event generator, P YTHIA . 5. The Shape of Strangeness: Transverse Spherocity and Underlying Event studies of φ and its relation to Ξ in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions
Sammanfattning : Through ultrarelativistic particle collisions at the LHC, it is possible to deconfine quarks and gluons. This deconfinement gives rise to a strongly interacting medium, referred to as the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). LÄS MER
