  1. 1. Baggy paper webs : Effect of uneven moisture and grammage profiles in different process steps

    Författare :Cecilia Land; Lennart Stolpe; Kaarlo Niskanen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bagginess; drying; calendering; grammage; moisture content; paper; profile; reels; softwood kraft pulp; storage; strain; tension; web; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : One of the problems encountered in paper converting is caused by the occurrence of "baggy webs", which essentially is when the tension profile of the paper web is uneven. In an area with low tension the paper is longer, which results in bagginess. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Strength grading of structural timber and EWP laminations of Norway spruce : Development potentials and industrial applications

    Författare :Jan Oscarsson; Anders Olsson; Marie Johansson; Hans Joachim Blass; SE-351 96 Växjö Videum Science Park SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden SP Wood Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fibre angle; grain angle; knots; laser scanning; machine strength grading; modulus of elasticity; side boards; strain; structural timber; wet gluing; wood; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Machine strength grading of structural timber is a sawmill process by which considerable value is added to sawn products. The principle of such grading is that the strength of a timber member is predicted on the basis of a so called indicating property (IP) which, in general, represents an averaged value of the modulus of elasticity (MOE) measured over a board length of about one meter or more. 3. 3. Exposure assessment for the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders

    Författare :Istvan Balogh; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Yrkesmedicin; industrial medicine; Occupational health; heart rate; interindividual variation; index; arbetsmiljömedicin; job strain; Questionnaire; mechanical exposure;

    Sammanfattning : Work-related musculoskeletal disorders of shoulder/neck are a major and increasing problem. Beside the pain, they involve high cost for the employer and society. The total expenditure for the musculoskeletal disorders of the neck and upper limb have been estimated to 0.5-2. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Theoretical studies of blue copper proteins

    Författare :Mats H M Olsson; Beräkningskemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum chemistry; metal-thiolate bonds; axial ligation; electron transfer proteins; reduction potential; reorganisation energy; Cu II ; Cu I ; strain; Induced-rack theory; Entatic state theory; cytochrome c oxidase; CuA; nitrite reductase; azurin; Blue copper proteins; plastocyanin; B3LYP; CASPT2; Soil Science; agricultural hydrology; Lantbrukshydrologi; marklära;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a critical investigation is presented about the role of mechanical strain for the electron-transfer properties of the blue copper proteins. It has been found that the structure of a realistic model complex of the oxidised blue-copper active site, optimised in vacuum with the B3LYP method, has the same trigonal cupric geometry as in the protein. 5. 5. Individual differences in behavior, neurochemistry and pharmacology associated with voluntary alcohol intake

    Författare :Shima Momeni; Erika Roman; Bo Söderpalm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intermittent access; multivariate concentric square field; open field; risk assessment; risk taking; individual difference; behavior; strain variation; endogenous opioid system; naltrexone; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Alcohol use disorder is a worldwide public health problem and is a disorder with substantial individual variation. There are suggested links between various behavioral traits, comorbid psychiatric diseases and excessive alcohol consumption. LÄS MER
