6. Applicability of thermal energy storage in future district heating system - Design methodologies and performance evaluations
Sammanfattning : District heating (DH) enables efficient and economical utilization of energy resources to satisfy the heat and hot water demands in buildings and is, thereby, well-established in Northern European countries. To achieve the future renewable energy system, the current DH systems are proved to undergo transitions towards the future DH systems, with major characteristics including renewable-based heat sources, low temperature networks, lower heating demands and smart controls. 7. Analysing the transient operation of the boiler and the TES tank for improving the flexibility in biomass CHP
Sammanfattning : The uncertainty in the energy systems due to the continuously growing share of variable renewable energy sources (VRES) increases the requirements for flexibility. From the multiple mechanisms to improve flexibility, biomass-fired combined heat and power plants (CHPs) have gained attention due to their sustainability and high efficiency. LÄS MER
8. The future load curve of the Swedish building stock – Interactions between the heating load and district heating
Sammanfattning : In line with global efforts directed against climate change, the building sector is required to undergo significant changes in terms of its energy management. This is the case for both the use of energy (reduced energy consumption) and the supply of energy (heat and electricity), and how these two interact. LÄS MER
9. Low-Temperature Heating and Ventilation for Sustainability in Energy Efficient Buildings
Sammanfattning : In 2013, the building sector consumed approximately 39 % of the total final energy use in Sweden. Energy used for heating and hot water was responsible for approximately 60 % of the total energy consumption in the building sector. Therefore, energy-efficient and renewable-based heating and ventilation systems have high potential for energy savings. LÄS MER
10. Studies of the flow pattern in short term hot water storages
Sammanfattning : This thesis relates to the study of thermally stratified hot water storages used in district heating systems and is an extension of the doctoral theses of Jan Dahl and Roger Hermansson. The thermal performance of a stratified water storage is reduced by different phenomena such as heat transfer to the surroundings and mixing between hot and cold water during the charging of the tank.
