  1. 1. Studies on stress in African green monkeys (Cercopithecus aethiops) : Stress associated cortisol and prolactin levels, lymphocyte modulation and pathological changes in adrenal cortex, stomach and hippocampus in the African green monkey (C. aethiops)

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Mbaruk Abdalla Suleman; Uppsala universitet.; [1998]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology and anatomy; adrenal cortex; capture; confinement; cortisol; husbandry; housing; hippocampus; lymphocytes; prolactin; stomach; stress; wild; African green monkeys; Fysiologi och anatomi; MEDICINE Physiology and pharmacology; MEDICIN Fysiologi och farmakologi; Physiology; fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : African green monkeys (AGMs) are highly susceptible to captivity-induced stress. An investigation of spontaneous deaths of laboratory confined AGMs at the Institute of Primate Research, Nairobi, Kenya over a period of 7.5 years documented mild to severe gastric mucosal erosions and ulcers in 83 of 260 (32%) necropsies. 2. 2. T-cell responses to Helicobacter pylori in humans and a possible role of regulatory T cells

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Anna Lundgren; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Helicobacter pylori; mucosal immunology; stomach; duodenum; asymptomatic; duodenal ulcer; gastric adenocarcinoma; T cells; regulatory T cells; dendritic cells; T-cell recruitment;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori colonize the stomach and areas of gastric metaplasia in the duodenum. The bacteria induce both local and systemic immune responses, but despite this, the infection normally persists for life and causes chronic gastritis in all infected subjects and peptic ulcers or gastric cancer in 10-20% of infected individuals. 3. 3. Human Beta-microseminoprotein expression, with special reference to gastric mucosa, atrophic corpus gastritis and gastric carcinoids

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Surgery, Malmö University Hospital, Lund University

    Författare :Håkan Weiber; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1999]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gastric carcinoids; atrophic corpus gastritis; stomach; in situ hybridization; immunohistochemistry; radioimmunoassay; chromogranin A; gastrin; Beta-microseminoprotein; mucin; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Gastro-enterology; Gastroenterologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human Beta-microseminoprotein is a 94 amino acid protein with 10 cysteins present in seminal plasma and on many mucosal surfaces in the body. The function of the protein is unknown. The purpose of this investigation was to study the distribution of Beta-microseminoprotein in the human body, especially in the stomach. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Interaction between Calcium, Calciotropic Hormones and the Gastrin-ECL-cell Axis

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Pharmacology, Lund University

    Författare :Rebecca Gagnemo Persson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1997]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; Pharmacological sciences; rat; chicken; parathyroid gland; stomach; vitamin D; PTH; CT; calciotropic hormones; Gastrin; calcium; ECL cell; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Histology; cytochemistry; histochemistry; tissue culture; Histologi; cytokemi; histokemi; vävnadskultur;

    Sammanfattning : Calcium homeostasis involves mainly the interaction of PTH, vitamin D and CT. The stomach may be important for calcium homeostasis. Gastric acid is thought to mobilize calcium from the diet, thereby facilitating the absorption of calcium in the small intestines. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Impact of the upper gut on body fluid regulation and blood pressure in man - potential involvement of a locally expressed renin-angiotensin system

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Pharmacology, Lund University

    Författare :Peter Hallersund; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2011]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; angiotensin; stomach; duodenum; sodium; salt; diuresis; appetite; gastric bypass; blood pressure;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the role of the upper gut in the regulation of diuresis and blood pressure control in relation to the novel finding of a mucosa-located renin-angiotensin system (RAS). RAS is a regulatory super-system vital for body fluid homeostasis and blood pressure control. LÄS MER
