17. Advancing Endovascular Management of Thoracic Aortic Disease
Sammanfattning : Despite technological advances and new endograft designs, endovascular treatment of the thoracic aorta still has important limitations. The aims of this thesis were to obtain further understanding on specific limitations in treating complex thoracic aortic pathologies with current technologies, to gain more insights into the hemodynamic consequences of thoracic endografting, and to explores the potential of deep learning algorithm-based automatic assessment of follow-up CTA imaging. 18. Aortic aneurysms and dissections. A clinical follow-up after surgery
Sammanfattning : ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to report on the results after aortic surgery on thoracic aneurysms and dissections and to study the feasibility of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the follow-up after aortic surgery. In this thesis, 203 patients ungergoing surgery on the thoracic aorta between 1977 and 2000 are included. LÄS MER
19. On Pathophysiology and Treatment of Aortic Disease
Sammanfattning : Pathophysiological processes underlying abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) formation and aortic dissections (AD) are largely unknown. Molecular imaging of the inflammatory component may improve our understanding of AAA and AD pathophysiology. LÄS MER
20. Prevention of intimal hyperplasia after balloon angioplasty and / or stent insertion. or How to mend a broken heart - Just say NO
Sammanfattning : Background: Restenosis is the most frequently occurring adverse event after percutaneous intravascular treatment of atherosclerotic lesions, which limits long-term patency of the intervention. Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate if minimizing vascular injury during treatment by insertion of self-expanding stents or modifying the reparative mechanisms by local drug delivery can reduce restenosis.
