  1. 11. Allogeneic stem cell transplantation : patients’ and sibling donors’ perspectives

    Författare :Annika M Kisch; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation; Confidentiality; Information and care model; Quality of life; Perspectives; Sibling donor; Stem cell donation;

    Sammanfattning : Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (hereafter HSCT) is an established treatment which offers a potential cure for a variety of diseases, mainly haematological malignancies. However, the treatment is also associated with significant risks of acute complications and late side effects, including mortality. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and potentials for application in fetal cell replacement therapy

    Författare :Karina Liuba; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; in utero hematopoietic cell transplantation; hematopoietic stem cell; multipotent progenitor; fetal therapy; heterotypic cell fusion;

    Sammanfattning : Fetal cell replacement therapy or in utero hematopoietic cell transplantation (IUHCT) is proposed as a non-myeloablative alternative to bone marrow transplantation (BMT) for a number of inborn immunologic, hematologic and metabolic disorders. IUHCT represents the method through which variable amounts of natural or genetically modified hematopoietic cells can be transferred to the fetal recipient in hope of correcting the disorder and preventing postnatal permanent organ damage. 3. 13. Stem cell function and organ development : analysis of Lhx2 function in hematopoietic stem cells and eye development

    Författare :Lina Dahl; Leif Carlsson; Jan-Ingvar Jönsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lhx2; hematopoietic system; hematopoietic stem cell; progenitor; embryonic stem cell; embryoid body; eye development; forebrain; eye field transcription factor; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; molecular medicine  genetics and pathology ;

    Sammanfattning : When a multicellular organism suffers damages to tissues/organs it heals itself by either substituting the lost cellular matrix by scar formation or by regenerating the lost tissue. Regeneration likely occurs by a recapitulation of the developmental process that formed the organ. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Novel Regulators of Brain Tumor Development : – From neural stem cell differentiation to in vivo models

    Författare :Anqi Xiong; Karin Forsberg Nilsson; Joanna Phillips; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glioma; medulloblastoma; neural stem cell; heparanase; NRBP2; dog models; susceptibility;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant brain tumors are diseases with poor prognosis and/or severe long-term side effects of treatment. This thesis aimed to discover novel regulators in brain tumor development, based on studying neural stem cell and progenitor cell (NSPC) differentiation and using animal models to introduce new insights to mechanisms of human brain tumors. 5. 15. Consequences of Shb Deficiency on Hematopoietic Cell Function

    Författare :Karin Gustafsson; Michael Welsh; Martin Bergö; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hematopoiesis; hematopoietic stem cells; myeloid neoplasia; T cells; atopic dermatitis; cell signaling; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The adaptor protein Shb has been implicated in the signaling of several tyrosine kinase receptors and previous studies have suggested a role for Shb in the signal transduction of T cells. Shb associates with the T cell receptor (TCR) and partakes in the signal propagation of activated T lymphocytes. LÄS MER
