  1. 21. Neuronal and glial differentiation of expanded neural stem and progenitor cells; in vitro and after transplantation

    Författare :Cecilia Eriksson Linsmeier; Neurobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gtv-a; RCAS A -EGFP; transplantation; cell detection; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; GFP-actin; glial differentiation; neuronal differentiation; neurospheres; glial cultures; bFGF; EGF; cell expansion; cortical primordium; MGE; LGE; CNS; stem- progenitor cells;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we have used cells dissected from the lateral ganglionic eminence (LGE), the medial ganglionic eminence (MGE), and the cortical primordium of the embryonic mouse forebrain. The tissue was dissected from either i) wild-type mice, ii) green fluorescent protein (GFP)-, or iii) Gtv-a-expressing transgenic mice, and subsequently grown and expanded in vitro using two different protocols. 2. 22. Towards Generation of Human Hematopoietic Stem Cells from Pluripotent Stem Cells

    Författare :Roger Rönn; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hematopoietic stem cells; pluripotent stem cells; embryonic development.; in vitro differentiation;

    Sammanfattning : There is a pressing need for compatible Hematopoietic Stem Cells (HSCs), in high quantities and of good clinical quality, to ensure optimal treatment for patients with various blood malignancies. Pluripotent Stem Cells (PSCs) have the potential to be a source for generating HSCs. LÄS MER

  3. 23. In vivo properties of neural stem cells after transplantation into the rat brain-Studies of phenotypic differentiation and functional integration using cell-specific labelling and electrophysiological techniques

    Författare :Ulrica Englund Johansson; Peter Eriksson; Lund Oftalmologi; []

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, we have examined the in vivo properties of in vitro expanded human and rat neural stem-and progenitor cells after transplantation into the neonatal and adult rat brain. The survival and differentiation of the grafted cells were assessed using species-specific antisera, and pre-labelling with the reporter gene green fluorescent protein (GFP). LÄS MER

  4. 24. Adoptive T Cell Therapy of Viral Infection and Cancer : Ex vivo Expansion of Cytomegalovirus- and Prostate Antigen-specific T Cells

    Författare :Björn Carlsson; Magnus Essand; Thomas Tötterman; Malcolm Brenner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; Immunotherapy; Adoptive T cell therapy; Dendritic cell; T cell; Tetramer; Cytomegalovirus; Transplantation; pp65; Prostate cancer; TARP; Prostate antigens; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : The main focus of my thesis has been to develop protocols for generating antigen-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and T helper cells (TH) for adoptive transfer to treat cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease and prostate cancer. CMV viremia is a severe complication in immunocompromised stem cell transplanted patients. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Adult Stem Cell Plasticity, Hype or Hope?

    Författare :Jalal Taneera; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; pancreatic beta cell ; stem cell ; plasticity ; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Sammanfattning : Several studies have reported that bone marrow (BM)-derived stem cells have the capacity to give rise to cells of different type of tissue; an ability termed stem cell plasticity or transdifferentiation. Controversies exist as to how frequent this phenomenon is, or if it may be explained by alternative mechanisms. LÄS MER
