1. The Columnar Lined Esophagus. Pathophysiological and Clinical Aspects
Sammanfattning : There is a persisting controversy concerning the definition, etiology and pathogenesis of Barrett's esophagus. The dramatic and parallel increase in the incidence of esophageal and junctional adenocarcinoma over the past decades justifies an evaluation of the pathophysiology of premalignant metaplastic changes of the esophagus and the gastroesophageal junction. 2. Social bodies : family and community level influences on height and weight, southern Sweden 1818-1968
Sammanfattning : This dissertation consists of an introduction, four research papers and one paper describing the data I collected for the studies and how I conducted the study. I collected information on men from conscript inspection lists and linked this to a sample of men in the Scanian Economic Demographic Database (SEDD) born between 1797 and 1950. LÄS MER
3. Creep Behavior of High Temperature Cast Materials for Exhaust Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on creep of four cast materials intended for exhaust manifolds in heavy-duty truck engines. Two of the materials are ferritic ductile cast irons, SiMo51 and SiMo1000, one is an austenitic ductile cast iron, D5S, and another one is an austenitic cast steel, HK30. LÄS MER
4. Thermal Cycling, Creep- and Tensile Testing of Cast Exhaust Materials at Elevated Temperatures
Sammanfattning : An exhaust manifold of a truck engine is subjected to tough conditions. As the truck is started, operated and shut down, it becomes subjected to thermal cycling up to around 800°C. At such high temperatures, corrosion, fatigue and creep are active degradation mechanisms. LÄS MER
5. The Role of Polyadenylation in Human Papillomavirus Type 16 Late Gene Expression
Sammanfattning : High-risk type human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are associated with cancer. HPVs are strictly epitheliotropic and infect basal cell layers, establishing a life cycle strongly linked to the differentiation stage of the infected cells. The viral capsid late genes, L2 and L1, are only expressed in terminally differentiated epithelium. LÄS MER
