  1. 1. Degradation Mechanisms of Heat Resistant Steel at Elevated Temperatures : In an Iron Ore Pelletizing Industry

    Författare :Erik A. A. Nilsson; Marta-Lena Antti; Ragnar Tegman; Jan-Erik Svensson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steel; Grate-Kiln; microstructure; corrosion; as-casted; thermal cycling; erosion; deposition; Engineering Materials; Materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the different degradation mechanisms of the stainless steel in a travelling grate in a Grate-Kiln iron ore pellet indurator. The travelling grate is a conveyor belt that transports green-body pellets to a rotary kiln while the pellets are being dried and pre-heated to a temperature of 900-1100 °C by recycled hot air. 2. 2. Reducing Carbon Dioxide Emissions from the EU Power and Industry Sectors - An assessment of key technologies and measures

    Författare :Johan Rootzén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; industry; carbon dioxide; cement; European Union; technologies; emission reductions; CCS; power; steel; CO2< sub>; refining; mitigation;

    Sammanfattning : In February 2011, the European Council reconfirmed the goal of reducing EU greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% by 2050, as compared to the levels in 1990. The power and industrial sectors currently account for almost half of the total GHG emissions in the EU. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Learning and Returning : Return Migration of Swedish Engineers from the United States, 1880-1940

    Författare :Per-Olof Grönberg; Lars-Göran Tedebrand; Jonny Hjelm; Walker D. Wyman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; History; emigration; return migration; engineers; technology transfer; Sweden; United States; industrialisation; electrical industry; steel and iron industry; mining; engineering industry; Historia; History subjects; Historieämnen; History; historia;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines different aspects of international migration and return migration among Swedish engineers – particularly to and from the United States between 1880 and 1940. The social, geographical, and educational backgrounds of these engineers and their role in diffusing technological knowledge in Sweden in addition to being a possible source of technical development during the country’s second industrial breakthrough is of particular interest. Sammanfattning : IPCC reported in its climate change report 2013 that the atmospheric concentrations of the greenhouse gases (GHG) carbon dioxide (CO2), methane, and nitrous oxide now have reached the highest levels in the past 800,000 years. CO2 concentration has increased by 40% since pre-industrial times and the primary source is fossil fuel combustion. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Sintering of water-atomized iron and low-alloyed steel powder

    Författare :Johan Wendel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reduction kinetics; water-atomized steel powder; water-atomized iron powder; sintering; oxide reduction; surface analysis; dilatometry; surface chemistry; thermogravimetric analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Iron and steel powder grades are extensively used in the powder metallurgy (PM) industry for manufacturing of ferrous structural components, with a major customer in the automotive industry. The powder grades are predominantly manufactured by water-atomization, yielding powder particles with highly irregular morphology and good compressibility, making the powder ideal for the conventional press-and-sinter manufacturing route.
