  1. 1. Analysis of the Performance of Different V2F Turbulence Models in a Stator Vane Passage Flow

    Författare :Andreas Sveningsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat transfer; RANS; realizability; V2F; stator flow;

    Sammanfattning : When designing the cooling system of modern gas turbines it is important to be able to predict the heat transfer from the hot gas to the walls surrounding the gas path. One flow feature making this rather complicated is the presence of secondary, three-dimensional flow structures, often referred to as horse shoe vortices, which greatly enhance the rate of heat transfer to the endwall, especially in the leading edge region. 2. 2. Aerodynamic Investigations of a High Pressure Turbine Vane with Leading Edge Contouring at Endwall in a Transonic Annular Sector Cascade

    Författare :Ranjan Saha; Torsten Fransson; Markus Jöcker; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high pressure turbine; secondary flow; leading edge contouring; endwall; experimental investigations; losses; flow field; hub cooling flow; högtrycksturbinen sekundärströmning; framkantsmodifiering; ändvägg; experimentell undersökning; förluster; strömningsfält; filmkylning av inre platform;

    Sammanfattning : Efficiency improvement is an important aspect to reduce the use of fossil-based fuel in order to achieve a sustainable future. Gas turbines are mainly fossil-fuel based turbomachines, and, therefore, efficiency improvement is still the subject of many on-going research activities in the gas turbine community. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Aerodynamic Design and Aeromechanical Analysis of Mixed and Radial Flow Turbines : A study on meanline method, stator tilting endwall design and forced response analysis

    Författare :Yang Gao; Andrew R. Martin; Jens Fridh; Damian Vogt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbomachinery; CFD; aerodynamics; aeromechanics; mixed flow turbine; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In this energy transition era, turbocharging is still an important technology for the automotive industry to reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions in its vehicles. This importance can be seen from both conventional fossil-fuel powertrains, and emerging applications, such as increased utilization of biofuels along with hydrogen fuel cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Prediction of Cooling Air Flow in Electric Generators

    Författare :Pirooz Moradnia; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFD; Multiple Reference Frame; PIV; Total Pressure Measurements; Electric Generator; Experimental Measurements; 5-hole Pressure Probe Measurements; Flow Prediction; OpenFOAM;

    Sammanfattning : The cooling air flow in hydro power electric generators is investigated experimentally and numerically. A fully predictive numerical approach is presented and validated, in which the inlet and outlet boundaries are eliminated from the computational domain. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Preliminary Design Investigations for the Selection of Optimum Reaction Degree for 1st Stage of a High Pressure Gas Turbine

    Författare :Hina Noor; Torsten Fransson; Konstantinos G. Kyprianidis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 1D design; aerodynamic design parameters; flow kinematic; thermodynamics; rotor inlet temperature; cooled turbine; reaction degree; flow coefficient; stage loading;

    Sammanfattning : One-dimensional (1D) turbine design calculation phase requires a handful of input data and choice of design parameters to provide the blade flow path geometry along with the flow kinematics and thermodynamics properties at the blade mid-span. The choice of important aerodynamics design parameters namely reaction degree, nozzle guide vane NGV exit flow angle or flow coefficient and stage loading defines the mid-span flow velocity triangles.
