1. Static and fatigue analyses of welded steel structures : some aspects towards lightweight design
Sammanfattning : The objectives of this thesis comprise of overcoming the challenges in designing lightweight welded structures such as material selection, choice of fatigue design methods, and increased performance by using improvement techniques. Material selection of welded joints is dependent on the filler and base material strengths. LÄS MER
2. Fatigue and Fracture of High-Strength Steels : Improving Reliability in Strength Assessment
Sammanfattning : Structural steel plays a fundamental role in the heavy industry, serving as a key material for numerous load-bearing products and equipment. Its widespread use is attributed to its robustness, resistance to wear, ease of use in construction, and cost-effectiveness. LÄS MER
3. Can Bone Void Fillers Carry Load? : Behaviour of Calcium Phosphate Cements Under Different Loading Scenarios
Sammanfattning : Calcium phosphate cements (CPCs) are used as bone void fillers and as complements to hardware in fracture fixation. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the possibilities and limitations of the CPCs’ mechanical properties, and find out if these ceramic bone cements can carry application-specific loads, alone or as part of a construct. 4. Improved Material Models for High Strength Steel
Sammanfattning : The mechanical behaviour of the three advanced high strength steel grades, Docol 600DP, Docol 1200M and HyTens 1000, has been experimentally investigated under various types of deformation, and material models have been developed, which account for the experimentally observed behaviour. Two extensive experimental programmes have been conducted in this work. 5. Monolithic and semi-monolithic translucent zirconium-dioxide restorations : aspects on design, material and strength
Sammanfattning : Although many clinical reports have shown high rates of clinical success associated with fixed dental restorations made of traditional zirconium-dioxide (zirconia), clinical failure due to improper design aiming to achieve high strength and optimal aesthetics, still occurs. Previous clinical and laboratory studies indicated that veneering porcelain and the connector represent the weak parts of the fully-veneered zirconia restorations where failure may occur. LÄS MER
