  1. 1. Staphylococcal enterotoxin H - structure and function of a superantigen

    Författare :Helen Pettersson; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; TCR; staphylococcal enterotoxin H; MHC class II; superantigen; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to characterise the biological functions of the superantigen staphylococcal enterotoxin H (SEH). Superantigens are highly immunostimulatory proteins, which crosslink T cells and antigen presenting cells (APCs). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Structural studies of metal-binding proteins revealing dynamic behaviour

    Författare :Maria Håkansson; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi; Chemistry; Molekylär biofysik; Molecular biophysics; zinc; magnesium; superantigen; calbindin D9k; X-ray crystallography; staphylococcal enterotoxin; structure; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : The Mg2+ and Mn2+ structures of calbindin D9k have been determined and they reveal a conformational change compared to the structures of apo and (Ca2+)2-calbindin D9k. These findings are unique, since normally calcium and not magnesium is known to induce conformational changes of EF-hand proteins. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Structural Basis of Immune Receptor Binding by Staphylococcal Superantigens

    Författare :Karin Rödström; Medicinsk strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Superantigen; X-ray Crystallography; T cell receptor; Major histocompatibility complex;

    Sammanfattning : Superantigens (SAgs) are toxins capable of inducing a massive immune response, leading to severe disease. They are secreted by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, which produce the staphylococcal enterotoxins and streptococcal pyogenic exotoxins, respectively. LÄS MER
