  1. 1. Anterior shoulder dislocation : Aspects of alternative methods of treatment and MR imaging

    Författare :Göran Wintzell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Shoulder; traumatic primary dislocation; arthroscopic lavage; non-operative regime; Indirect MR arthrography; apprehension position; ABER position; Bankart operation; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Sixty patients (16-30 years) with traumatic primary anterior shoulder dislocation were allocated to arthroscopic lavage or non-operative treatment. The arthroscopic lavage group had a lower recurrence rate, better functional outcome and anterior stability after one year. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Radiographic assessment of cup migration and wear after hip replacement

    Författare :Thomas Ilchmann; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; measurement; assessment; loosening; migration; wear; cup; Hip; arthroplasty; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Methods are needed for accurate measurement of acetabular cup migration and wear after hip replacement. The EBRA (Ein Bild Röntgen Analyse) method was recently introduced as a computerized method for radiographic assessment of acetabular cup migration. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Surgical quality control of minimally invasive procedures, fast-track surgery and implant technology in gynaecological surgery in Sweden

    Författare :Emil Karl Nüssler; Mats Löfgren; Pär Nordin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prolapse; mesh surgery; fast track surgery; laparoskopic hysterectomi; obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : Internationally as well as in Sweden, efforts for improvement in gynaecological surgery in recent decades have mainly focused on three new treatment concepts:(1) Use of minimally invasive procedures: since there is an interdependency between the extent of surgical trauma and the risk for adverse outcome, increased use of supposedly atraumatic endoscopic procedures has revolutionized several aspects of surgical care(2) A multimodal approach to eliminate harmful procedures in the peri-operative process based on evidence-based principles(3) Introduction of implants to support damaged tissue with synthetic mesh in incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse patients.Research question 1: Is introduction of a minimally invasive operation enough per se or is the measured improvement mediated by elimination of harmful procedures in the perioperative process?Findings: Our study (Paper I) indicates that by applying a multimodal intervention programme for the pre- and postoperative care of patients undergoing supravaginal hysterectomy, the surgical procedure per se is of less importance than generally considered. 4. 4. Transurethral resection of the prostate: studies on efficacy, morbidity and costs

    Författare :Erik Sagen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Transurethral resection of the prostate; BPH; Urinary retention; Complications; Healthcare costs; LUTS;

    Sammanfattning : Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), based on benign prostatic enlargement (BPE), are increasingly common, in ageing men. A considerable amount of men will ultimately progress with deteriorating symptoms or with the occurrence of complications secondary to obstruction of the bladder outlet, for example, urinary retention (UR). 5. 5. Fatigue Anisotropy in Forged Components

    Författare :Cornelius Temmel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Inclusion Cluster; Low Sulfur; Machinability; Inclusion; Manganese Sulfide; Quenching Crack; Forging; Isotropic Quality; Steel; Anisotropy;

    Sammanfattning : Ever-growing requirements on combustion engine efficiency of motor vehicles demand increasing service loads in powertrain components. Optimization of component material is therefore inevitable. A major detriment with many forged transmission components is their anisotropic mechanical behavior, not least during cyclic loading.
