11. Inside the Ideal Home : The Changing Values of Apartment Living and the Promotion of Consumption in Sweden, 1950-1970
Sammanfattning : This dissertation explores the image of the ideal home in Sweden, an idea closely bound to the spatial dynamics of building norms and the outfitting of the domestic household, from the 1950s through the 1960s. By examining official, commercial, and consumer-cooperative ideals of housing and home, I attempt to understand and analyze correlations between various visions of the ideal apartment home and the social, political, economic, and cultural contexts in which they were conceived during the heyday of the Swedish welfare state. 12. Hand-arm vibration syndrome; Consequences for hand function and quality of life
Sammanfattning : Workers exposed to hand-held vibrating machines may risk developing a hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), a condition which can cause chronic impairment and disability. The aims of this thesis were 1) to obtain deeper insight and further knowledge of HAVS and the consequences for hand function, and aspects of quality of life (QoL); 2) to investigate the usefulness of clinical assessments in diagnosing HAVS; 3) to evaluate a treatment method for patients with severe cold intolerance. Sammanfattning : The aim was to investigate the presence of everyday problems in men with prostate cancer, their relation to health-related quality of life, HRQOL, and sense of coherence, SOC, and to compare with men with benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH, and a sample from the general population. The aim also was to investigate what nursing care needs there were in men with prostate cancer and how these were met during an in-patient period. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Disability of the upper extremity is common after stroke. To be able to evaluate recovery and effects of interventions there is a need for stable and precise outcome measures.
