11. Parametric FE-modelling of non-linear racking behaviour of light-frame shear walls and modules used for multi-storey timber buildings
Sammanfattning : Wood is a sustainable material from nature that has a longstanding traditionas a building material. Compared to other construction materials, such as steeland concrete, the significance of using structural timber and engineered wood products has increased in recent years because they are regarded as a renewable source and require a low carbon footprint and less energy consumption during production. 12. Calibration of the ATLAS calorimeters and discovery potential for massive top quark resonances at the LHC
Sammanfattning : ATLAS is a multi-purpose detector which has recently started to take data at the LHC at CERN. This thesis describes the tests and calibrations of the central calorimeters of ATLAS and outlines a search for heavy top quark pair resonances. LÄS MER
13. Evaluation of Modular Thermally Driven Heat Pump Systems
Sammanfattning : The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of primary energy use within the European Union, therefore reductions in the energy use intensity of this sector are critical in decreasing total energy usage. Given that the majority of energy used within the built environment is for space conditioning and domestic hot water preparation, prudence would suggest that decreasing primary energy used for these end purposes would have the biggest overall environmental impact. 14. On Stratified Algebras and Lie Superalgebras
Sammanfattning : This thesis, consisting of three papers and a summary, studies properties of stratified algebras and representations of Lie superalgebras. In Paper I we give a characterization when the Ringel dual of an SSS-algebra is properly stratified. LÄS MER
15. Novel methods and software for disease module inference
Sammanfattning : Cellular organization is believed to be modular, meaning cellular functions are carried out by modules composed of clusters of genes, proteins and metabolites that are interconnected, co-regulated or physically interacting. In turn, these modules interact together and thereby form complex networks that taken together is considered to be the interactome. LÄS MER
