  1. 1. An Experimental Study of Submerged Entry Nozzles (SEN) Focusing on Decarburization and Clogging

    Författare :Arashk Memarpour; Pär Jönsson; Torbjörn Carlberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Refractory; SEN; Clogging; REM; Coating; glaze; alkaline; Post- Mortem; industrial preheating; ZrSi2; Graphite; Alumina; Oxidation; Al2O3-C; ZrO2-C; MgO-C; decarburization; reaction mechanism; Yttria Stabilized Zirconia; plasma spray-PVD coating;

    Sammanfattning : The submerged entry nozzle (SEN) is used to transport the molten steel from a tundish to a mould. The main purpose of its usage is to prevent oxygen and nitrogen pick-up by molten steel from the gas. Furthermore, to achieve the desired flow conditions in the mould. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Investigation of microstructure and porosity of columnar yttria-stabilized zirconia coatings produced by axial suspension plasma spraying

    Författare :Johanna Ekberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; X-ray microscopy; thermal barrier coatings; NMR cryoporometry; suspension plasma spraying; scanning electron microscopy; porosity measurements;

    Sammanfattning : Ceramic topcoats provide thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) with its heat insulating properties. The heat transfer is primarily occurring by conduction through the bulk material, therefore features such as interfaces, pores and grain boundaries are essential for thermal insulation as they act as scattering sites. 3. 3. Physico-Chemical Investigations of, and Characterization of Model Membranes for, Lipid-Peptide Interactions

    Författare :Per Wessman; Katarina Edwards; Martin Malmsten; Michel Lafleur; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis is on the effects caused by α-helical peptides on liposome structure, the impact of cholesterol on the peptide-membrane interactions, and the effect of aggregate curvature on the peptide affinity. Results of the studies show that the membrane destabilizing effect of the cationic α-helical peptide melittin is modulated by cholesterol. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Design of Microstructures in Thermal Barrier Coatings : A Modelling Approach

    Författare :Mohit Kumar Gupta; Per Nylén; Robert Vaβen; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal barrier coatings; microstructure; thermal conductivity; Young‘s modulus; lifetime; finite element modelling; design; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Plasma sprayed Thermal Barrier Coating systems (TBCs) are commonly used for thermal protection of components in modern gas turbine application such as power generation, marine and aero engines. The material that is most commonly used in these applications is Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) because of this ceramic’s favourable properties, such as low thermal conductivity, phase stability to high temperature, and good erosion resistance. 5. 5. Porous Cellulose Materials from Nano Fibrillated Cellulose

    Författare :Nicholas Cervin; Lars Wågberg; Monica Ek; Charlotta Hanson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : In the first part of this work a novel type of low-density, sponge-like material for the separation of mixtures of oil and water has been prepared by vapour deposition of hydrophobic silanes on ultra-porous nanocellulose aerogels. To achieve this, a highly porous (> 99 %) nanocellulose aerogel with high structural flexibility and robustness is first formed by freeze-drying an aqueous dispersion of the nanocellulose. LÄS MER
