  1. 1. Spatial Spread of Organisms : Modeling ecological and epidemiological processes

    Författare :Tom Lindström; Uno Wennergren; Colleen Webb; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Spatial kernel; Spatially explicit modeling; Disease transmission; Animal movements; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the spread of organisms in both ecological and epidemiological contexts. In most of the studies presented, displacement is modeled with a spatial kernel function, which is characterized by scale and shape. These are measured by the net squared displacement (or kernel variance) and kurtosis, respectively. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Numerical Modeling of Turbulent Combustion and Flame Spread

    Författare :Zhenghua Yan; Institutioner vid LTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Technological sciences; Flame Spread; Pyrolysis; Heat Transfer; Radiation; CFD; Turbulent Combustion Modeling; Teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Theoretical models have been developed to address several important aspects of numerical modeling of turbulent combustion and flame spread. The developed models include a pyrolysis model for charring and non-charring solid materials, a fast narrow band radiation property evaluation model (FASTNB) and a turbulence model for buoyant flow and flame. 3. 3. Computational strategies in flame-spread modelling involving wooden surfaces

    Författare :Jörgen Carlsson; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flamspridning; computational methods; pyrolysis modelling; fire modelling; fire growth; flame spread; Computational Fluid Dynamics; CFD; brandtillväxt; brandmodellering; pyrolysmodellering;

    Sammanfattning : Various approaches to flame-spread and fire-growth modelling are discussed and are evaluated using experimental results from different tests. Use of Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD, in fire modelling is discussed and the performance of different CFD codes in wall flow modelling is analysed. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Unconventional Monetary Policy at the International, National and Local Level

    Författare :Martin Nordström; Pär Österholm; Niclas Kreuger; Lars Hultkrantz; Jesper Lindé; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Bayesian VAR; Cointegration; Forecast evaluation; Municipal debt; Spread; Stochastic volatility; Sveriges Riksbank; Time-varying parameters; Unconventional monetary policy;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on four essays. The first investigates time-variation in the relationship between short interest rates and consumption in the USA and Sweden. Results based on Bayesian VAR models indicate that the short rate ceased to respond to consumption shocks when constrained by the zero lower bound. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Round goby invasion of the Baltic Sea : the role of phenotypic variation

    Författare :Magnus Thorlacius; Tomas Brodin; Göran Englund; Jost Borcherding; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Round goby Neogobius melanostomus ; behaviour; animal personality; dispersal; species invasions; colonisation; spread; sociability; activity; boldness; aggression; cortisol coping-styles; biology; biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Biological invasions are a major threat to biodiversity world wide with annual economic costs up to 1.4 trillion dollars. The round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) is a particularly fierce invader that threatens ecological function of the Baltic Sea. LÄS MER
