  1. 1. On spinal mechanisms for reflex control in man : modulation of Ia-afferent excitation with changes in muscle length, activation level and fatigue

    Författare :Maria M. Nordlund; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Electromyography; eccentric; concentric; presynaptic inhibition; H-reflex; central fatigue; twitch interpolation; muscle spindle; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology; Electromyography; eccentric; concentric; presynaptic inhibition; H-reflex; central fatigue; twitch interpolation; muscle spindle;

    Sammanfattning : To control muscle force, neural activation has to take alterations in muscle mechanics into account. This thesis assesses modulations in excitatory efficacy of Ia-afferents during muscle length changes at different levels of voluntary activation and during fatigue. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Monoaminergic modulation in spinal reflex pathways from group I afferents

    Författare :Ingela Hammar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :primary afferents; spinal interneurones; ventral spinocerebellar tract neurones; noradrenaline; serotonin; cat;

    Sammanfattning : Serotonin and noradrenaline are known to play an important part in modulation of spinal neuronal networks. Group I muscle afferents mediate information on dynamic changes of muscle length and tension, and modulation of actions from these afferents could be of importance for the execution of movements. 3. 3. Spinal Cord Processing of Sensory Information: Spatial Organization and Adaptive Mechanisms

    Författare :Anders Levinsson; Malmö Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; transplantatioin; pain; sensorimotor; plasticity; reflex; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Principles for sensorimotor transformation and plasticity in the spinal cord and functional repair in the root-avulsed spinal cord were studied. A comparative study confirmed that the nociceptive withdrawal reflex (NWR) system is composed of reflex modules, with each performing a finely tuned transformation of skin sensory input to activity in one muscle. 4. 4. Plasticity in mice nociceptive spinal circuits -role of cell adhesion molecules

    Författare :Jonas Thelin; Neurofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Long term-potentiation; Cell adhesion molecule; Pain; Somatosensory imprinting; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Nociceptive withdrawal reflex; Species differences; Central sensitisation; Mouse strains; Spinal cord;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: To understand the function of the genes and their products in the pain system, studies will have to deal with complex issues related to intercellular communication, e.g. plasticity in neuronal networks. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Self-Organizing Body Maps in the Spinal Cord

    Författare :Marcus Granmo; Neurofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; somatosensory; learning; development; cortex; spinal cord; activity dependent; pain; plasticity;

    Sammanfattning : During development primary afferents grow into and establish neuronal connections in the spinal cord, conveying information of the anatomical and mechanical properties of the body. This body representation forms the basis for how we perceive sensory information and control our movements. LÄS MER
