1. Effects of Spin-Orbit Interactions in Ferromagnetic Metal Nanoparticles
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a theoretical investigation of the effects of spin-orbit (SO) interactions in ferromagnetic metal nano-particles. Part I of the thesis is devoted to an elementary introduction of the research field, including recent experimental advances which partly motivated the work presented here. LÄS MER
2. Traitement de l'interaction spin-orbite en chimie quantique et application à la réactivité des complexes d'actinides
Sammanfattning : The recent methodological developments and the advent of faster computers enable nowadays to investigate theoretically the chemical reactivity of heavy element complexes. As an example we can mention actinide chemistry which is involved in the separation of nuclear wastes. LÄS MER
3. Spin-orbit coupling in transition metal systems : a study of octahedral Ni(II)
Sammanfattning : The effects induced by spin-orbit coupling on the electronic states of Ni(II) complexes are studied with ab-initio and crystal field calculations. The ab-initio calculations are performed in two steps, to separate the coulomb and the spin-orbit effects. LÄS MER
4. Effects of the Spin-Orbit Interaction on Transport and Optical Properties of III-V Semiconductor Quantum Wells
Sammanfattning : Effects of the intrinsic electron spin-orbit interaction on transport and optical properties of III-V semiconductor quantum wells have been studied theoretically. It is shown that due to crystal anisotropy of this interaction, the weak localization magnetoresistance in a magnetic field parallel to interfaces is very sensitive to the epitaxy growth direction and also to the orientation of the magnetic field with respect to the crystal axes. 5. Relativistic theory of laser-induced magnetization dynamics
Sammanfattning : Ultrafast dynamical processes in magnetic systems have become the subject of intense research during the last two decades, initiated by the pioneering discovery of femtosecond laser-induced demagnetization in nickel. In this thesis, we develop theory for fast and ultrafast magnetization dynamics. LÄS MER
