1. Spin Vortices, Interlayer Exchange, and Magnetocalorics in Multilayers
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we study strongly coupled pairs of spin vortices, in a configurationsuch that the cores attract while external fields act to pull them apart, with potential applications in magnetic random access memory (MRAM) and oscillators.Inertial decoupling of the cores has been studied and can be achieved with weak nanosecond pulses by the help of anharmonicity. 2. Molecular Order and Dynamics in Nanostructured Materials by Solid-State NMR
Sammanfattning : Organic-inorganic nanostructured composites are nowadays integrated in the field of material science and technology. They are used as advanced materials directly or as precursors to novel composites with potential applications in optics, mechanics, energy, catalysis and medicine. LÄS MER
3. Spin-dependant transport in lateral nano-devices based on magnetic tunnel junctions
Sammanfattning : This thesis is an experimental study of spin dependent transport in nanoscale ferromagnetic tunnel junction arrays and lateral multi-terminal devices with normal metal and superconducting spin transport channels. Two-, three-, and five-junction arrays have been fabricated in the form of lateral circuits and characterized using variable temperature magneto-transport measurements. LÄS MER
4. Spin transport in normal and superconducting nanowires
Sammanfattning : Todays conventional electronic devices are based on electron charge transport in semiconductor channels. Spintronics is a rapidly emerging technology, which exploits the spin degree of freedom as well as the charge of the electrons. LÄS MER
5. Metal-Organic Complexes at Surfaces
Sammanfattning : The adsorption of different metal-organic complexes at surfaces was investigated by spectroscopic techniques (x-ray photoemission spectroscopy, x-ray absorption spectroscopy, resonant photoemission spectroscopy) and by scanning tunnelling microscopy. The investigation methods are able to provide atomic scale information on the studied systems, which moreover originates from the top-most atomic layers in a sample, meaning that they are surface sensitive techniques.
