11. Spin dependent transport in Co nano-scale tunnel junctions
Sammanfattning : Ferromagnetic tunnel junctionshave been fabricated, measured and theoretically described. Anoverview of the Julliere model, and Slonczewski's model todescribe the resistance change due to di®erent orientationof the magnetization between the magnetic electrodes(magnetoresistance) is given. 12. Molecular recognition and dynamics in proteins studied by NMR
Sammanfattning : Knowledge of dynamics in protein is very important in the description of protein function and molecular recognition. The thesis investigates protein dynamics on time-scales from milli- to sub-nanosecond, with focus on the latter, using NMR spin relaxation experiments on two proteins, the 138-residue carbohydrate recognition domain of galectin-3 (Gal3C) and the 56-residue B1 domain of bacterial protein G (PGB1). 13. Non-collinear Magnetism in d- and f-electron Systems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, non-collinear magnetism has been studied by using density functional theory and the augmented plane wave method with local orbitals (APW+lo). Two conditions for non-collinear instabilities have been identified in this thesis. First, the Fermi energy should cut through both spin up and down states. LÄS MER
14. Electronic, Transport, and Optical Properties of Broken-Gap Heterostructures
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the physical properties of broken-gap heterostructures using a multiband k.p model and self-consistent calculations. Broken-gap heterostructures, made from InAs, GaSb, and AlSb, are characterized by a special band alignment with an overlap between the InAs conduction band and the GaSb valence band. LÄS MER
15. Analysis of NMR Spin-lattice Relaxation Dispersion on Complex Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis focus on the analysis of spin-lattice NMRD relaxation profilesmeasured in various complex systems such as proteins, zeolites and ionicliquids. Proton, deuterium and fluoride T1-NMRD relaxation profiles wereobtained from a fast-field cycling (FFC) instrument. LÄS MER
