  2. 7. Role of oxidative stress and antioxidants in domestic and non-domestic cat spermatozoa : with special reference to cryopreservation

    Författare :Paweena Thuwanut; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Living cells, including spermatozoa, stored under aerobic conditions require oxygen to support their normal metabolism. Excessive levels of metabolites (reactive oxygen species; ROS) can cause cell damage or lipid peroxidation. The ROS and lipid peroxidation can be detected during preparation and cryopreservation of mammalian spermatozoa. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Sperm maturation and conservation in felids

    Författare :Panisara Kunkitti; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Many of the world's wild feline species are threatened by extinction. Gene banks are created with the aim of preserving their genetic materials. In case of unexpected death of the animals, epididymal sperm preservation can be used to avoid loss of genetic material. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Zinc and human sperm chromatin

    Författare :Svante Kjellberg; Björn Afzelius; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : X-rny microanalysis, Sephadex® chromatography of seminal plasma and exposure of spermatozoa to sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), were methods used to study the zinc content of sperm chromatin, the nature of the zinc binding ligands present in seminal plasma and the stability of the sperm chromatin in whole semen samples from fertile and infertile men. Split ejaculates were used to study the same variables in different fractions of the same ejaculate. LÄS MER
