  1. 1. Ammonium removal from municipal wastewater with application of ion exchange and partial nitritation/Anammox process

    Författare :Andriy Malovanyy; Elzbieta Plaza; Andrei Zagorodni; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wastewater; nitrogen removal; ion exchange; nitritation; Anammox;

    Sammanfattning : Nitrogen removal from municipal wastewater with application of Anammox process offers cost reduction, especially if it is combined with maximal use of organic content of wastewater for biogas production. In this study a new technology is proposed, which is based on ammonium concentration from municipal wastewater by ion exchange followed by biological removal of ammonium from the concentrated stream by partial nitritation/Anammox process. 2. 2. 14C Produced by Nuclear Power Reactors - Generation and Characterization of Gaseous, Liquid and Solid Waste

    Författare :Åsa Magnusson; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; waste disposal; spent ion-exchange resins; mass balance assessment; Nuclear physics; environmental impact; Fysicumarkivet A:2007:Magnusson; nuclear power plant; Kärnfysik; Carbon-14;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results from studies on carbon-14 produced by nuclear power reactors. Radioactive 14C enters the carbon cycle and can be taken up by humans, where it will constitute a potential health hazard. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Metal distribution and mobility under alkaline conditions

    Författare :Mårten Dario; Bert Allard; Yngve Albinsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi; Adsorption; Colloids; Nuclear waste; Cement; Montmorillonite; miljökemi; Chemistry; Kemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The adsorption of an element, expressed as its distribution between liquid (aquatic) and solid phases in the biogeosphere, largely determines its mobility and transport properties. This is of fundamental importance in the assessment of the performance of e.g. geologic repositories for hazardous elements like radionuclides. LÄS MER
