  1. 1. Speed Choice : The Driver, the Road and Speed Limits

    Författare :Mats Haglund; Nils Petter Gregersen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Driving behaviour; Speed choice; Risk estimates; Enforcement; Attitudes; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Speed choice is one of the more characteristic features of driver behaviour. The speed a driver chooses to travel at determines the degree of difficulty he or she operates under. Higher speeds lead to more accidents, higher accident risk and more severe consequences of an accident. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Speed characteristics of urban streets based on driver behaviour studies and simulation

    Författare :Karin F. M. Aronsson; Karl-Lennart Bång; Bengt Holmberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Speed; Characteristics; Urban area; Road network; Street; Traffic; Driver; Side-friction element; Driving simulator; Simulation; Measurement; Behaviour; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The objective of the study was to gain in-depth knowledge of speed relationships for urban streets. The speed characteristics were examined using a number of methods for data collection. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Loyal Speed Adaptation Speed limitation by means of an active accelerator and its possible impacts in built-up areas

    Författare :Sverker Almqvist; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active accelerator; LSA; speed; speed reduction; driver behaviour; traffic safety; ISA; Teknik; Technological sciences; Road transport technology; Vägtransportteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Traditional measures for improved traffic safety need to be complemented by modern technologies in the struggle to reduce the consequences of traffic accidents all over the world. This thesis introduces the Loyal Speed Adaptation (LSA) function based on recent developments in the area of Intelligent Transport Sys-tems to support the vehicle drivers in not using inappropriate or excessive speeds, which have been found to be an important factor for causing serious and fatal accidents. 4. 4. Aposematism, Crypsis and Population Differentiation in the Strawberry Poison Frog

    Författare :Andreas Rudh; Anna Qvarnström; Jacob Höglund; Michael Speed; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; co-evolution; population divergence; natural selection; sexual selection; warning colouration; Oophaga pumilio; Dendrobates pumilio; aggression; explorative behaviour; colour patterns; Biologi med inriktning mot zooekologi; Biology with specialization in Animal Ecology;

    Sammanfattning : Evolutionary transitions between the two major predator avoidance strategies aposematism and crypsis are expected to be associated with changes in many important traits of animals. However, empirical studies on populations experiencing ongoing or recent transitions between these strategies are rare. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On Physical Relations in Driving: Judgements, Cognition and Perception

    Författare :Gabriella Eriksson; Mäntylä Timo; Ola Svenson; Christopher Patten; Wändi Bruine de Bruin; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Driver; Driving veh ; Cognition; Behaviour; Choice; Speed; Fuel consumption; Route itinerary ; Thesis; 841 Road: Road user behaviour; 841 Road: Road user behaviour; Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : Drivers need to make judgements of physical relationships related to driving speed, such as mean speed, risks, travel time and fuel consumption, in order to make optimal choices of vehicle speed. This is also the case for the general public, politicians and other stakeholders who are engaged in traffic issues. LÄS MER
