16. Development of visible spectroscopic techniques for applications in plasma diagnostics
Sammanfattning : In this thesis visible spectroscopy is developed and used for two applications. Studies of motional Stark effect spectra for diagnosing the current distribution in the fusion plasmas with two different spectroscopic diagnostic systems: ratiometry and interferometry. LÄS MER
17. Improving interpretation by orthogonal variation : Multivariate analysis of spectroscopic data
Sammanfattning : The desire to use the tools and concepts of chemometrics when studying problems in the life sciences, especially biology and medicine, has prompted chemometricians to shift their focus away from their field‘s traditional emphasis on model predictivity and towards the more contemporary objective of optimizing information exchange via model interpretation. The complex data structures that are captured by modern advanced analytical instruments open up new possibilities for extracting information from complex data sets. LÄS MER
18. Binding of benzo(a)pyrene metabolites and derivatives to DNA : characterization using optical spectroscopy techniques
Sammanfattning : DNA with covalently bound benzo(a)pyrene (BP) derivatives was studied with fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence decay measurements, fluorescence quenching measurements, light absorption and linear dichroism of flow oriented samples. The modified DNA was prepared in three different ways: (1) by incubating calf thymus DNA with rat liver micromomes, necessary cofactors and benzo(a)pyrene or derivatives of benzo(a)pyrene, (2) by isolating DNA. 20. Development of Laser Spectroscopic Techniques for Trace Element Analysis and Combustion Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the development of highly sensitive laser-based spectroscopic techniques for trace-element analysis and combustion diagnostics. The work consists of both theoretical as well as experimental applications of the interaction between laser light and atoms or molecules. LÄS MER
