  1. 1. Numerical Solution Methods in Stochastic Chemical Kinetics

    Författare :Stefan Engblom; Per Lötstedt; Wilhelm Huisinga; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stochastic models; chemical master equation; mesoscopic kinetics; Markov property; jump process; moment closure problem; spectral-Galerkin method; high dimensional problem; hybrid methods; time-parallel; homogenization; Beräkningsvetenskap med inriktning mot numerisk analys; Scientific Computing with specialization in Numerical Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : This study is concerned with the numerical solution of certain stochastic models of chemical reactions. Such descriptions have been shown to be useful tools when studying biochemical processes inside living cells where classical deterministic rate equations fail to reproduce actual behavior. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Thick Frequency Selective Structures

    Författare :Björn Widenberg; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; acoustics; Elektromagnetism; optik; akustik; optics; Electromagnetism; Energy Saving Window; Radome; Finite Elemente Method; Frequency Selective Structure; Mode Matching Technique;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a new method that can handle a general thick Frequency Selective Structure (FSS), that consists of an arbitrary number of aperture layers and dielectric layers. The method is based on the Mode Matching Technique (MMT) and the finite element method (FEM). The thesis consists of a General Introduction and five scientific papers. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Pressure driven instabilities in the reversed-field pinch : numerical and theoretical studies

    Författare :Ahmed Akram Mirza; Jan Scheffel; Roberto Paccagnella; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion plasma; thermonuclear; Reversed-field pinch; resistive MHD; resistive g modes; thermal conduction; the boundary value theory;

    Sammanfattning : According to classical linearized resistive magnetohydrodynamics theory, pressuredriven modes are unstable in the reversed-field pinch (RFP) due to unfavorable magnetic field line curvature. The result is based on the assumption of an adiabatic energy equation where anisotropic thermal conduction effects are ignored as compared to convection and compression. LÄS MER
