1. Learning Spatiotemporal Features in Low-Data and Fine-Grained Action Recognition with an Application to Equine Pain Behavior
Sammanfattning : Recognition of pain in animals is important because pain compromises animal welfare and can be a manifestation of disease. This is a difficult task for veterinarians and caretakers, partly because horses, being prey animals, display subtle pain behavior, and because they cannot verbalize their pain. LÄS MER
2. Physics of Aftershocks in the South Iceland Seismic Zone : Insights into the earthquake process from statistics and numerical modelling of aftershock sequences
Sammanfattning : In seismology, an important goal is to attain a better understanding of the earthquake process. In this study of the physics of aftershock generation, I couple statistical analysis with modelling of physical processes in the postseismic period. LÄS MER
3. Signal Characterization of Atrial Arrhythmias using the Surface ECG
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis is comprised of five parts which deal with different signal processing problems in ECG-based characterization of atrial arrhythmias. Such characterization requires that the ventricular activity has first been cancelled in the ECG. LÄS MER
4. Trajectory Planning for an Autonomous Vehicle in Multi-Vehicle Traffic Scenarios
Sammanfattning : Tremendous industrial and academic progress and investments have been made in au-tonomous driving, but still many aspects are unknown and require further investigation, development and testing. A key part of an autonomous driving system is an efficient plan-ning algorithm with potential to reduce accidents, or even unpleasant and stressful drivingexperience. LÄS MER
5. Settler-Colonial Assemblages and the Making of the Israeli Frontier: Palestinian experiences of (in)security, surveillance and carceral geographies
Sammanfattning : This dissertation examines the operations of contemporary Israeli security machinery as it unfolds in the course of expanding the Israeli colonial frontier over Palestinian rural areas of the occupied West Bank. Since the early 1990s and up to the present, Israeli security measures and monitoring technologies multiplied and have come to operate across various public, hybrid and civilian actors and institutions that orchestrate control over Palestinian bodies as a mean to dispossess them and expand the Israeli frontier over their lands through the erection of settlements.
