  1. 1. Nutrient imbalance in Norway spruce

    Författare :Gunnar Thelin; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Silviculture; Växtekologi; Plant ecology; nitrogen saturation; base saturation; pH; multiple limitation; deficiency; copper; boron; potassium; pollution; sustainability; conifers; forestry; forestry technology; Skogsvetenskap; skogsbruk; skogsteknik; Soil Science; agricultural hydrology; Lantbrukshydrologi; marklära;

    Sammanfattning : The studies presented in my thesis indicate that growing Norway spruce in monoculture does not constitute sustainable forest management in a high N and S deposition environment, such as in southern Sweden. The combination of N-induced high growth rates and leaching due to soil acidification causes soil reserves of nutrients to decrease. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Palaeosurfaces and palaeovalleys on North Atlantic previously glaciated passive margins : reference forms for conclusions on uplift and erosion

    Författare :Johan M. Bonow; Karna Lidmar-Bergström; Clas Hättestrand; Jens-Ove Näslund; Mats Olvmo; Adrian Hall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palaeosurface; palaeovalley; uplift; valley; incision; glacial erosion; weathering; Neogene; southern Norway; West Greenland; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Palaeosurfaces and palaeovalleys are landforms under destruction in the present climate and/or tectonic regime, and thus mainly reflect processes not active today. Uplifted palaeosurfaces exist along the formerly glaciated passive continental margins around the North Atlantic. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Nordiska ortnamn på -und

    Författare :Eva Nyman; Svante Strandberg; Thorsten Andersson; Börje Tjäder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Scandinavian languages - general; onomastics; toponymy; hydronymy; nesonymy; place-names; place-name elements; place-name chronology; suffixes; Denmark; Norway; Sweden; Scandinavia; Germanic; Indo-European; Nordiska språk - allmänt; Scandinavian languages; Nordiska språk; nordiska språk; Scandinavian Languages;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, an investigation and classification of Scandinavian place-names in -und is undertaken. The thesis comprises two main sections: Part 1, containing a review of earlier research and discussions of broader issues, and Part 2, consisting of studies of, individual names, arranged inalphabetical order. 4. 4. Individual-tree-selection in uneven-sized Norway spruce stands in southern Sweden : Developments of tools for simulation and optimization

    Författare :Nils Fagerberg; Johan Bergh; Peter Lohmander; Stergios Adamopoulos; Hubert Hasenauer; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; continuous cover forestry; selective cutting; Picea abies; uneven-aged; single-tree-selection; growth model; knot size model; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Individual-tree-selection (ITS) is a continuous cover forestry method that aims to utilize the uneven-sized stand structure through optimized individual tree selections. ITS is an interesting management alternative to rotation forestry in terms of production of multiple benefits and forest owner profitability. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Evaluating thinning practices and assessment methods for improved management in coniferous production forests in southern Sweden

    Författare :Magnus Persson; Johan Bergh; Lauri Mehtätalo; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; thinning; within-stand variation; tree species classification; Scots pine; Norway spruce; Sentinel-2; Heureka; Precision forestry; thinning detection; basal area; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Most of our knowledge about wood production of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and associated silvicultural guidelines are based on field experiments. LÄS MER
