16. Phenotypic Specification of Striatal Progenitors; Evidence for both cell-autonomous and environmental control as studied by transplantation into the adult and developing rodent brain
Sammanfattning : The striatum is the major component of the ventral telencephalon and basal ganglia, involved in the processing of cortical information. The vast majority of the neuronal population in the striatum are striatal projection neurons, with connection to the globus pallidus and substantia nigra. LÄS MER
17. The Regulation of Growth and Survival in Human Multiple Myeloma Cells by IGF-I Receptor Signaling
Sammanfattning : Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable B-cell malignancy mainly localized to the bone marrow. Our aim was to examine the growth- and survival-promoting role of the IGF-IR and its downstream signaling components in MM cells to identify potential targets for therapy. LÄS MER
18. Integrity promoting care of demented patients
Sammanfattning : The purpose of the thesis was to investigate if integrity promoting care improves functions in demented patients over time. The Erikson (1982) theory of ”eight stages of man” was used as a basis for training of staff in a three-month intervention study (I-VI) at a nursing home ward. LÄS MER
19. Life, death ant the role of IGF-I in human multiple myeloma
Sammanfattning : Multiple myeloma (MM) is a clonal expansion of malignant cells with a plasmablast- plasma cell morphology in the bone marrow. It is a fatal disease with a median survival of 2-3 years after start of conventional therapy. LÄS MER
20. Electrophysiology of pancreatic A-, B- and D-cells studied in intact mouse islets of Langerhans
Sammanfattning : Abstract The electrophysiological properties of insulin-secreting b-cells, glucagon-releasing a-cells and somatostation-producing d-cells in intact mouse pancreatic islets were investigated using the perforated patch whole-cell technique. It is demonstrated that it is possible to functionally identify the different cell types in situ. LÄS MER
