16. Repertoire diversity and maturation of HIV-1 vaccine-induced B cell responses
Sammanfattning : In the work presented in this thesis, I characterized B cell responses in rhesus macaques inoculated with HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein (Env)-based vaccines to define genetic and functional properties of the elicited antibodies for an improved understanding of Env immunogenicity. In Paper I, we investigated antibody heavy chain V gene segment expression in the overall B cell repertoire and in response to vaccination by using 2 approaches, 454-pyrosequencing and single-cell RT-PCR of bulk and sorted memory B cells, respectively. 17. Characterization of the genome and tumor microenvironment of human B-cell lymphoma
Sammanfattning : Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is the 13th most common type of cancer worldwide in 2020 and consists mainly of human B-cell lymphoma (approximately 85%). Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common NHL subtype (approximately 30%). LÄS MER
18. Biological pathways in B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
Sammanfattning : Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas have become more prevalent in the past 20 years. They constitute a diverse group of lymphoid tumors that have been understood and classified according to their clinical behaviour, anatomic location, morphology, immunophenotype, cytogenetics, and gene expression profile. 19. Immunoglobulin gene usage and affinity maturation in antiviral antibodies
Sammanfattning : The ability of antibodies to block infections makes them highly relevant for successful vaccine development. Through the papers described in this thesis, I attempt to characterize the functional and genetic aspects of antiviral antibodies induced by infection and vaccination. LÄS MER
20. Characterisation of epitope-specific B cells and the role of IgG Fc sialylation in murine arthritis models
Sammanfattning : Autoimmune diseases are a major burden for society and economy. One of the most common autoimmune diseases is rheumatoid arthritis (RA) characterized by joint inflammation, swelling and pain. If left untreated, it ultimately leads to disability. LÄS MER
