  2. 2. Nerve-induced release of nitric oxide in gastrointestinal and erectile tissue

    Författare :Katarina Hallén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Autonomic neurotransmission; cyclic guanosine monophosphate; guinea pig colon; neuronal nitric oxide synthase; nitric oxide; nitrite; phosphodiesterase; rabbit corpus cavernosum; smooth muscle; soluble guanylate cyclase;

    Sammanfattning : Nitric oxide (NO) is an important messenger of the autonomic nervous system, innervating the gastrointestinal and urogenital tracts among many other tissues. The aim of the present thesis was to study the nitrergic neurotransmission in enteric and erectile tissue with special emphasis on modulation of nitrergic neurotransmission by the soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC)/cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-pathway. 3. 3. Effects of nitric oxide on gastric acid secretion in human gastric mucosa : functional and morphological studies

    Författare :Anna Berg; Gunnar Flemström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrochloric acid (HCI) is secreted in high amounts by parietal cells in the human gastric mucosa and the resulting low pH constitutes an important factor for creating a suitable environment for the digestion. The normal gastric mucosa is equipped with an arsenal of protective mechanisms against the extreme chemical environment which the gastric acid creates. LÄS MER
