1. Development of Experimental Brachytherapy Dosimetry Using Monte Carlo Simulations for Detector Characterization
Sammanfattning : Brachytherapy (BT) is a type of interventional radiotherapy that is advantageous due to high absorbed dose conformity and possibility to deliver high dose in few fractions. It is often used for prostate and gynecological tumors as monotherapy or a boost alongside external beam radiotherapy (EBRT). LÄS MER
2. Instrumentation for energetic Neutral atom measurements at Mars, Venus and The Earth
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the development and calibrations of sensors to measure energetic neutral atoms (ENAs) at Mars, Venus, and the Earth. ENAs are formed in charge exchange processes between energetic, singly--charged ions and a cold neutral gas. LÄS MER
3. Preparation and optical characterisation of antireflection coatingsand reflector materials for solar energy systems
Sammanfattning : An angle-resolved scatterometer and an integrating sphere for reflectance measurements at oblique angles of incidence have been designed and evaluated. The integrating sphere has a centre-mounted sample holder and the detector sits at the end of the sample holder and therefore always faces the same sphere wall area. LÄS MER
4. Hybrid superconductor junctions with diluted PtNi ferromagnetic interlayer
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes experimental investigation of thin films made of diluted Pt 1-x Ni x ferromagnet alloy and Nb-Pt 1-x -Nb Josephson junctions. Such Hybrid Superconductor-Ferromagnet (S-F) Structures are of significant interest because of the new physics involved and possible applications in low temperature and spintronic devices. LÄS MER
5. A Fast Pixelated Thermal-Neutron Detector
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the study of a position-sensitive scintillation-based detector called the Solid-State Neutron Detector (SoNDe). SoNDe is being developed for cold- and thermal-neutron detection at the small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) instrument SKADI at the European Spallation Source (ESS), currently under construction in Lund, Sweden.
