  1. 6. Systems Aspects of Increased Swedish Waste Incineration

    Författare :Jenny Sahlin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biological treatment; incineration tax; waste management; waste import; value of households’ time.; waste incineration; district heating; MSW; landfilling ban; recycling;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Recent bans on landfilling of combustible and organic waste in Sweden have resulted in an increase in alternative waste treatment, especially waste incineration with energy recovery. This thesis elucidates how the current increase in Swedish waste incineration affects and is affected by the two systems to which it belongs: the waste management and the energy systems. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Turning waste into resources: Rethinking the way we discard things

    Författare :Maria Isabel Ordonez; Isabel Ordonez Pizarro; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solid waste; resource recovery; material loops; waste sorting; user centred design; design with waste; waste collection systems; waste sorting;

    Sammanfattning : Waste is one of the biggest challenges faced by our society. If not handled correctly, waste pollutes our natural environment with devastating results. However, it seems almost unavoidable that our society generates waste. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Towards a Sustainable Biomass and Waste Refinery Based on Pyrolysis Combined with a Pretreatment Process

    Författare :Yuming Wen; Weihong Yang; Pär Jönsson; Tobias Richards; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pyrolysis; anaerobic digestion; hydrothermal carbonization; refinery; biomass; waste; kinetics; LCA; Energiteknik; Energy Technology; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Some of the naturally accumulated biomass and the massive production of waste by human activities have caused serious environmental problems. The degradation of biomass and waste is one of the main greenhouse gasses (GHG) emission sources. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Household food waste management – Evaluations of current status and potential improvements using life-cycle assessment methodology

    Författare :Anna Bernstad; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; waste management; household waste; food waste; life-cycle assessment; anaerobic digestion; systems analysis;

    Sammanfattning : An increased understanding of the world’s limited resources and the negative environmental impacts connected to solid waste management has in recent years increased interest in separate collection and treatment of organic waste in many parts of the world. As an example, increased biological treatment of organic waste is an explicit goal within the Swedish national solid waste management strategy (SEPA, 2006) and the national environmental objectives state that 35% of all organic household waste should be treated biologically by 2010 (SEPA, 2007).
