  1. 1. CD40L Gene Therapy for Solid Tumors

    Författare :Lina Liljenfeldt; Thomas Tötterman; Angelica Loskog; Sara Mangsbo; Evren Alici; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CD40L; adenovirus; tumor immunology; tumor microenvironment; immunotherapy; local immunotherapy; antigen presentation; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Adenoviral CD40L gene therapy (AdCD40L) is a strong inducer of anti-tumor immune responses via its activation of dendritic cells (DCs). Activated DCs can in turn activate T cells, which are key players in an efficient anti-tumor response.This thesis includes three papers that focus on different aspects of AdCD40L gene therapy. 2. 2. Imaging the tumor microenvironment : the dynamics and modification of hypoxia

    Författare :Anna Ljungkvist; Peggy L. Olive; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; tumor microenvironment; double hypoxic marker method; proliferation; hypoxia; hypoxic half-life; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Sammanfattning : The tumor vasculature is poor and heterogeneous which may result in inadequate oxygenation and changed energy status. In addition the balance between cell proliferation and the rate of cell death is disturbed, which results in tumor growth. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development of a Cancer Vaccine Targeting Tumor Blood Vessels

    Författare :Elisabeth J. M Huijbers; Anna-Karin Olsson; Arjan W. Griffioen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vaccine; Therapeutic; Cancer; Tumor; Angiogenesis; Immunization; Vascular; Extracellular matrix; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap; Biomedical Laboratory Science; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : A treatment strategy for cancer is the suppression of tumor growth by directing an immune response to the tumor vessels, which will destroy the tissue.In this thesis we describe the development of a vaccine that targets antigens expressed around angiogenic vasculature in most solid tumors. 4. 4. Monitoring of neuroendocrine tumor patients undergoing systemic therapies

    Författare :Olof Pettersson; Anders Sundin; Håkan Geijer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Therapy monitoring; NET; neuroendocrine tumor; computed tomography; CT; PRRT; 177Lu-DOTATATE; TGR; tumor growth rate; theranostics; DOTATOC-PET CT; Radiology; Radiologi; Endokrinologi och Diabetologi; Endocrinology and Diabetology; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Monitoring of neuroendocrine tumor (NET) patients undergoing systemic therapies is troublesome as biomarkers capable of detecting tumor responses have been difficult to establish. Changes in the sum of target lesion diameters are used to evaluate the effects of therapy according to the response evaluation criteria in solid tumors (RECIST 1.1). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Ultrasound-assisted Interactions of Natural Killer Cells with Cancer Cells and Solid Tumors

    Författare :Athanasia Christakou; Martin Wiklund; Sabeth Verpoorte; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Natural killer cell; cytotoxicity; heterogeneity; multiwell microchip; biocompatibility; ultrasonic cell manipulation; 3D cell culture; solid tumor; spheroid; high-resolution imaging; Biologisk fysik; Biological Physics;

    Sammanfattning : In this Thesis, we have developed a microtechnology-based method for culturing and visualizing high numbers of individual cells and cell-cell interactions over extended periods of time. The foundation of the device is a silicon-glass multiwell microplate (also referred as microchip) directly compatible with fluorescence microscopy. LÄS MER
