6. Photoluminescence Studies of Single Quantum Dots
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy studies of single III-V semiconductor quantum dots (QDs). The electronic properties of the QDs, as well as, the dynamics of the processes taking part inside and in the surroundings of the QDs have been studied by single quantum dot photoluminescence spectroscopy, time resolved spectroscopy, and correlation spectroscopy. 7. Experimental studies of ion transport in cementitious materials under partially saturated conditions
Sammanfattning : Cement production is responsible for a significant portion of manmade CO2 emissions. This motivates the development of cementitious binders with a lower carbon footprint. Considering the emissions in a longer perspective, the durability of concrete structures is absolutely essential. LÄS MER
8. Plane wave electromagnetic measurements for imaging fracture zones
Sammanfattning : Electromagnetic fields from distant radio transmitters interact with the resistivity structures in the earth. They can be regarded as plane-wave fields since their penetration depth is much smaller than their wavelength. LÄS MER
9. 3D Structure and Emplacement of the Alnö Alkaline and Carbonatite Complex, Sweden : Integrated Geophysical and Physical Property Investigations
Sammanfattning : Carbonatites are carbonate-rich magmatic rocks that are rare and of great relevance for our understanding of crustal and mantle processes. Although found on all continents and in settings ranging from Archaean to present-day, their deeper plumbing system is still poorly understood. LÄS MER
10. Slurry rheology of industrial minerals and its effects on wet ultra-fine grinding
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates slurry rheology of industrial minerals (limestone and quartzite) and its effects on wet ultra-fine grinding in order to reduce energy cost, increase the throughput as well as the product fineness. The influences of solid concentration, molecular weight of a dispersant, and particle size and distribution on the rheological behaviour of original limestone slurries have been investigated. LÄS MER
