  1. 1. Recycling Filter Substrates used for Phosphorus Removal from Wastewater as Soil Amendments

    Författare :Victor Cucarella Cabañas; Gunno Renman; Greg Morrison; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Compact filter; Filtra P; Phosphorus recycling; Polonite; Soil amendment; Sorption isotherms; Soil science; Markvetenskap; Solution chemistry; Lösningskemi; Agricultural engineering; Jordbruksteknik; Water engineering; Vattenteknik; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis studied the viability of recycling filter substrates as soil amendments after being used in on-site systems for phosphorus (P) removal from wastewater. Focus was put on the materials Filtra P and Polonite, which are commercial products used in compact filters in Sweden. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Bed filters for phosphorus removal in on-site wastewater treatment : Removal mechanisms and sustainability

    Författare :David Eveborn; Jon Petter Gustafsson; Gunno Renman; Erik Kärrman; Lars Lövgren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; On-site wastewater treatment; Eutrophication; Environmental impact assessment; Phosphorus removal mechanisms; Soil infiltration; Reactive bed filters; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik; Water engineering; Vattenteknik; Soil chemistry; Markkemi;

    Sammanfattning : For many surface waters, phosphorus (P) leaching is a serious problem that should be minimized to prevent eutrophication. In Sweden there is a demand for physical and technical development of high-performance P removal techniques to reduce phosphorus leaching from on-site wastewater treatment systems to the Baltic Sea. 3. 3. Evaluation of Modern Irrigation Techniques with Brackish Water

    Författare :Tarek Selim Aboulila; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Soil water; Soil Salinity; Drip irrigation; HYDRUS-2D 3D; El-Salam Canal; Egypt.;

    Sammanfattning : Modern irrigation techniques are becoming increasingly important in water-scarce countries especially in arid and semiarid regions. Higher crop production and better water use efficiency are usually achieved by drip irrigation as compared to other irrigation methods. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The hidden half of the meadow : Interactions between drought, soil carbon, roots and soil microbial communities

    Författare :Daniela Guasconi; Gustaf Hugelius; Sara Cousins; Stefano Manzoni; Petra Fransson; David Johnson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; soil; soil carbon; soil ecology; roots; root traits; microbial communities; grasslands; climate change; drought; land management; compost; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Soil is a hidden ecosystem which harbours plant roots and countless microorganisms, vital for sustaining life aboveground. These belowground communities provide essential ecosystem services like soil stabilisation and organic matter decomposition. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Microbial remediation of heavy metal ion polluted soil and water

    Författare :Torbjörn Håkansson; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EDTA; metal; soil; remediation; Sulphate reducing bactera; biogas; water;

    Sammanfattning : Contamination of soil and water by heavy metal ions (HMs) is a problem all over the world.The use of biological methods alone or in combination with other techniques for treatment of such polluted sites constitutes a major challenge. LÄS MER
