  1. 1. Wood-Decomposing Fungi: Soil colonization, effects on indigenous bacterial community in soil and hydroxyl radical production

    Författare :Karin Tornberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ecology; hydroxyl radicals; fungal growth; interactions; soil colonization; bacterial community; soil; brown-rot fungi; wood-decomposing fungi; white-rot fungi; Ekologi; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The extracellular enzyme activities of wood-decomposing basidiomycetes are essential for wood degradation, but are also able to degrade various recalcitrant organic pollutants. The possible application of wood-decomposing fungi in bioremediation has increased the interest in understanding their growth and activity in soil. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pollution-Induced Community Tolerance (PICT) of Bacteria: Evaluation in Phenol- and Antibiotic Polluted Soil

    Författare :Louise Aldén; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antibiotics; Bacteria; Community; Fungi; Leucine incorporation; Phenols; Soil; Pollution-Induced Community Tolerance PICT ;

    Sammanfattning : The effects of organic pollutants on the soil microbial community were studied in this work. The main aim was to evaluate the use of pollution-induced community tolerance (PICT) in studying the effects of pollution. The leucine incorporation technique (indicating bacterial growth) was used to monitor changes in tolerance. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Soil salinity as a driver of microbial community structure and functioning

    Författare :Kristin Rath; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Soil salinization; Soil Microbiology; soil microbial community; Bacteria; Aerobic; Fungi; Drying-rewetting; Microbial growth; Microbial biomass; Soil respiration; salinity tolerance; Saline soils; Salinity gradient;

    Sammanfattning : Soil salinization is a pressing agricultural problem in many areas of the world, particularly in areas heavily reliant on irrigation agriculture. While the negative effects of salinity on crop plants have been widely studied, its effects on soil microorganisms have received less attention, and the impact of soil salinity on both microbial community structure and functioning is not well understood. 4. 4. The hidden half of the meadow : Interactions between drought, soil carbon, roots and soil microbial communities

    Författare :Daniela Guasconi; Gustaf Hugelius; Sara Cousins; Stefano Manzoni; Petra Fransson; David Johnson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; soil; soil carbon; soil ecology; roots; root traits; microbial communities; grasslands; climate change; drought; land management; compost; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Soil is a hidden ecosystem which harbours plant roots and countless microorganisms, vital for sustaining life aboveground. These belowground communities provide essential ecosystem services like soil stabilisation and organic matter decomposition. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Spatial and temporal ecology of oak-associated fungal communities

    Författare :Maria Faticov; Ayco Tack; Peter Hambäck; Paula Baptista; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; abiotic and biotic forces; climate warming; community ecology; foliar fungal community; host genotype; plant microbiome; powdery mildew; seasonal dynamics; warming-by-genotype interaction; Quercus robur; soil fungal community; spatial patterns; ekologi och evolution; Ecology and Evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Plants host a large diversity of microorganisms, which includes fungi, bacteria and archaea. Among these, fungi are highly diverse, and known to play a vital role in plant health and in regulation of the essential ecosystem functions. LÄS MER
