  1. 1. Colonization processes of soil fauna and mycorrhizal fungi

    Författare :Dagmar Gormsen; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Animal ecology; abandonment; land use; ectomycorrhiza; arbuscular mycorrhiza; lumbricid earthworms; Acari; soil fauna; collembola; Djurekologi; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Colonization consists of two parts, a dispersal phase followed by establishment and reproduction at a new site. Dispersal behaviour influences survival and the access to resources and mates of individuals and is thus closely linked to an organism's fitness. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A song of ice and mud : Interactions of microbes with roots, fauna and carbon in warming permafrost-affected soils

    Författare :Sylvain Monteux; Ellen Dorrepaal; Frida Keuper; James T. Weedon; Joshua Schimel; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microbial communities; permafrost; functional limitations; rhizosphere; SOM decomposition; soil fauna; climate change; carbon dioxide;

    Sammanfattning : Permafrost-affected soils store a large quantity of soil organic matter (SOM) – ca. half of worldwide soil carbon – and currently undergo rapid and severe warming due to climate change. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Unravelling the feeding habits of fungivores : interactions between soil fauna and ectomycorrhizal fungi

    Författare :Cecilia Remén; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this project was to investigate and clarify the feeding habits of fungivorous soil fauna, with the overall objective of improving our understanding of their functional roles in the ecosystem. Special focus was given to symbiotic ectomycorrhizal (EM) fungi, that, owing to their abundance and diversity, are considered to constitute an important food source for fungivorous soil fauna and may be a factor regulating these faunal communities. 5. 5. The fate of airborne lead pollution in boreal forest soils

    Författare :Jonatan Klaminder; Ingemar Renberg; John G. Farmer; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Air pollution; lead; lead isotopes; peat; forest soil; forest plants;

    Sammanfattning : Lead has a more than three-millennia-long pollution history in Europe. Metal production, burning of coal and use of leaded petrol resulted in a significant pollution of the atmosphere. As a consequence of atmospheric fallout, the Swedish boreal forest is strongly contaminated by airborne lead pollution. LÄS MER
