1. Chronic Tennis Elbow : Aspects on Pathogenesis and Treatment in a Soft Tissue Pain Condition
Sammanfattning : Objectives: To study the treatment practice of chronic tennis elbow (TE) among general practitioners (GPs) and physiotherapists (PTs), the effects of a simple, graded home exercise regime versus expectation, the effects of eccentric versus concentric exercise, and the involvement of the substance P – NK1 receptor system in the peripheral, painful tissue of chronic TE patients by positron emission tomography (PET). Materials and methods: A postal survey regarding therapeutic methods used in patients with chronic TE was sent to 129 GPs and 77 PTs, 81 subjects with chronic TE were randomly and blindly assigned to either an exercise group or a wait list group, 120 subjects were randomly assigned to either eccentric or concentric exercise and ten subjects were examined by PET and the NK1 specific radioligand [11C]GR205171. 2. Modeling Residual Stress Fields in Soft Tissues : with Application to Human Arteries
Sammanfattning : Biomechanics or Mechanics of Biology comprises many different fields. This thesis deals with soft tissues or living tissues and the fact that these materials live in a pressurized environment. This means that an unloaded tissue may not be stress free. The stress in an unloaded body is usually called residual stress. LÄS MER
3. Evaluation of computer-assisted virtual treatment planning and template-guided surgery in dental implant treatment
Sammanfattning : One of the newly introduced concepts in implant dentistry is computer-guided surgery. The development of 3D implant planning software and imaging technology provide clinicians with 3D information of patients bony structures. LÄS MER
4. On titanium release from dental implants and the inflammatory response
Sammanfattning : In dentistry, dental implants have become a standard treatment for single tooth loss and partial and total edentulism since their introduction by P-I Brånemark in the 1960s. Long-term follow-up studies have shown that dental implantation is a predictable treatment, with an overall implant survival over ninety-five percent. LÄS MER
5. Prevention and treatment of experimental peri-implantitis
Sammanfattning : Peri-implantitis is a plaque-associated pathological condition occurring in tissues around dental implants. It is characterized by inflammation in the peri-implant mucosa and progressive loss of supporting bone. LÄS MER
