  1. 21. Color Screening in QCD and Neutrinos from Singlino Dark Matter

    Författare :Dominik Werder; Gunnar Ingelman; Rikard Enberg; Roman Pasechnik; Hannes Jung; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; QCD; Diffraction; SCI; Dark Matter; Singlino; NMSSM; Indirect Detection; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Hard diffraction in proton collisions, where the initial state proton emerges from the interaction rather undisturbed despite a hard interaction scale, has been studied for a few decades. First observed in proton-proton collisions, the phenomenon is seen as well in deep inelastic electron-proton scattering (DIS) as a leading final state proton and a rapidity gap-region without final state particles. Sammanfattning : Through two books and a series of video documentations of live performances Mette Ingvartsen makes choreography into a territory of physical, artistic and social experimentation. The Artificial Nature Series focusses on how relations between human and non-human agency can be explored and reconfigured through choreography. LÄS MER

  3. 23. First-principles calculations of polymer interactions

    Författare :Jesper Kleis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; polymer structure; polyvinylchloride.; polypropylene; polyethylene; sparse material systems; Density functional theory; polymer interactions; van der Waals interaction; polymer crystal; soft matter; DFT;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis reports on studies of interactions in sparse matter by first-principles calculations, in particular polymeric systems. The focus is on the three unbranched simple polymers: polyethylene (PE), isotactic polypropylene (PP) and isotactic polyvinylchloride (PVC), which together represent an important class of materials that form complexes stabilized by weak but long-range dispersive interactions. 4. 24. On droplet interactions and suspension flow

    Författare :Zhouyang Ge; Luca Brandt; François Gallaire; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; droplets; suspension; multiphase flow; microfluidics; soft matter; rheology; depletion force; level set; ghost fluid.; droppar; suspension; flerfasflöde; mikrofluidik; mjukt material; reologi; utarmningskraft; nivåuppsättning; spökvätska.; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Micron to millimetre sized droplets, precisely generated or sustained in controlled environment, have great potential in myriads of engineering applications functioning as the basic element to assemble metamaterials, deliver drugs, host surfactant, reduce friction and damp turbulence. The interaction of droplets from pairwise to collective levels is the most important factor in controlling these processes, yet little is known about the detailed mechanisms in various nonideal conditions. 5. 25. Theory of van der Waals bonding: from bulk materials to biomolecules

    Författare :Elisa Londero; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; alkanes; extended systems; DNA; band structure; van der Waals Density Functional vdW-DF ; exchange functionals; Density Functional Theory; non-local correlation; layered oxides;

    Sammanfattning : Sparse matter is abundant in Nature.It encompasses systems characterized by an intrinsic low density of electrons in sizeable regions, where the van der Waals forces contribute considerably to cohesion.Given the length scale of the problem, a prediction of these materials requires appropriate tools within a quantum-mechanical framework.
