21. Association Phenomena in Aqueous Solutions of Surfactants and Hydrophobically Modified Polymers
Sammanfattning : Interactions between ionic surfactants (sodium dodecyl sulfate and dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride) and nonionic polymers ((hydroxyethyl)cellulose, ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose and their hydrophobically modified analogous) have been studied by means of rheology, pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG NMR), time-resolved fluorescence quenching (TRFQ), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). In all experiments surfactants have been added in various amounts to polymer solutions at fixed concentrations. LÄS MER
22. Black liquor gasification : experimental stability studies of smelt components and refractory lining
Sammanfattning : Black liquors are presently combusted in recovery boilers where the inorganic cooking chemicals are recovered and the energy in the organic material is converted to steam and electricity. A new technology, developed by Chemrec AB, is black liquor gasification (BLG). LÄS MER
23. Polyelectrolytes on Surfaces and their Complexes with Surfactants, Thermodynamics versus kinetics
Sammanfattning : The interfacial properties of polyelectrolytes, mainly cationic with various content of amphiphilic groups, and their complexes with an oppositely charged surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), have been investigated using time-resolved ellipsometry. This thesis focuses on the kinetics and reversibility aspects of polymer adsorption and the control of the adsorption by regulating the electrostatic interactions. LÄS MER
24. Protein-surfactant interactions
Sammanfattning : Protein-surfactant interactions in aqueous media have been investigated. The globular proteins lysozyme and bovine serum albumin (BSA) served as model proteins. Several ionic and non-ionic surfactants were used.Fluorescence probe measurements showed that at low sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) concentration (< 0. LÄS MER
25. Aspects of alkali chloride chemistry on deposit formation and high temperature corrosion in biomass and waste fired boilers
Sammanfattning : Combustion of biomass and waste has several environmental, economical and political advantages over the use of fossil fuels for the generation of heat and electricity. However, these fuels often have a significantly different composition and the combustion is therefore associated with additional operational problems. LÄS MER
