21. Recovery of Rare Earth Elements from spent Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries from Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Sammanfattning : Rare earth elements (REE) are a group of elements that are of critical importance in numerous technological applications, including “green technologies” such as wind turbines and hybrid car batteries. When the criticality of applications is considered, problems in supply has brought the option of effective secondary resource utilization into consideration. LÄS MER
22. A nuclear magnetic resonance study of dialkyldithiophosphate complexes : polycrystalline and surface adsorbed
Sammanfattning : 31P, 13C and 207Pb NMR were used to characterize different metal (Ni, Zn, Pb) dialkyldithiophosphate complexes. Eight different sodium or potassium dialkyldithiophosphate salts (alkyl groups R=ethyl-, n-propyl, iso-propyl, n- butyl, iso-butyl, sec-butyl, iso-amyl and cyclo-hexyl) were used as starting materials. 23. Polymer extraction and utilization of brown algal biomass
Sammanfattning : Aquaculture is a field with a world changing potential. The areas at sea are enormous and aquatic cultivations impact both the environment and local ecology far less than land based cultivations. In the realm of algae, abundancies exists of nutrition, water and accessible sunlight, but there is constant shortage of places to dwell. LÄS MER
24. Ab initio modelling of xanthates adsorbed on Ge and ZnS surfaces
Sammanfattning : The motivation for this modelling work, in close collaboration with experimentalists, is to contribute to the understanding of xanthate adsorption on ZnS surfaces in the flotation process. Adsorption of xanthates on Ge surfaces is investigated, which also have been studied experimentally in the Agricola Research Centre. LÄS MER
25. Metal ions in life : towards accurate computer-aided studies ofprotein-ion interactions
Sammanfattning : The importance of ions in life sciences can not be overstated. The interaction betweenmetal ions and proteins is vital because it is involved in a variety of biological processes. The ions contribute to stability and function of proteins. Moreover, they are relevant indisease progression. LÄS MER
