    Sammanfattning : Besides individual characteristics, people born in the same country may present a related pattern of health status and health care utilisation, perhaps because they share a number of socioeconomic and cultural characteristics in addition to their common geographic origin and language. Rather than using simple ethnical or geographical categories, we apply multilevel regression analysis with individuals nested within countries of birth. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The general aims of this dissertation are to analyse how family situation, and especially lone parenting, influence health and life chances in Sweden and the extent to which possible relations are influenced by socioeconomic circumstances and health selection. In two population-based cohort studies we analysed overall and cause-specific mortality (1991-95), and also severe morbidity (1991-94) from different causes among lone mothers in comparison with mothers with partners. This thesis investigated long-term associations between midlife psychosocial working conditions and late-life health and leisure and examined whether sense of coherence in midlife modified the association between psychosocial working conditions and all-cause mortality.
