1. Visionen om outtömlig energi : Bridreaktorn i svensk kärnkraftshistoria 1945–80
Sammanfattning : The fast breeder is a type of nuclear reactor that aroused much attention in the 1950s and 60s. Its ability to produce more nuclear fuel than it consumes offered promises of cheap and reliable energy, and thereby connected it to utopian ideas about an eternal supply of energy. LÄS MER
2. Science and Technology for Americium Transmutation
Sammanfattning : Americium could be seen as the most troublesome element that is presentin nuclear fuel. This thesis offers different points of view on the possibility ofamericium transmutation. The first point of view elaborates simulations ofamericium-bearing facilities, namely nuclear data, a popular computationalcode and modeling techniques. LÄS MER
3. Modelling the system Cr-Fe-Ni-Te via the CALPHAD method, DFT and experiments : for fast nuclear reactor applications
Sammanfattning : In the pursuit of safer, more environmentally friendly and sustainable forms of energy production for our ever growing demands, a type of nuclear reactor cooled by liquid metal instead of water is under development. Specific to this type of reactor are special forms of corrosion of the material that encapsulates the fuel pins in the reactor core, called Fuel-Clad Chemical Interaction (FCCI) or Fission Product-induced Liquid Metal Embrittlement (FPLME). 4. Modeling of Fission Product Behavior in Fast Reactors
5. High Performance Fuels for Water-Cooled Reactor Systems
Sammanfattning : Investigation of nitride fuels and their properties has, for decades, been propelled on the basis of their desirable high metal densities and high thermal conductivities, both of which oer intrinsic advantages to performance, economy, and safety in fast and light water reactor systems. In this time several key obstacles have been identied as impeding the implementation of these fuels for commercial applications; namely chemical interactions with air and steam, the noted diculty in sintering of the material, and the high costs associated with the enrichment of 15N.
