  1. 6. Integrating Heat Pumps into Smart Grids

    Författare :David Fischer; Björn Palm; Georges Laurent; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming our energy system towards 100% renewable energy sources requires radical changes across all energy sectors. Heat pumps as efficient heat generation technology link the electricity and heat sector. From 2010 to 2015 between 750,000 and 800,000 heat pumps have been sold every year across Europe. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Hierarchical energy management in smart grids : Flexibility prediction, scheduling and resilient control

    Författare :Kaveh Paridari; Lars Nordström; Henrik Sandberg; Geert Deconinck; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The electric power industry and society are facing challenges and opportunitiesof transforming the present power grid into a smart grid. Energymanagement systems (EMSs) play an important role in smart grids. A generalhierarchical structure for EMSs is considered here, which is composed ofa lower layer and an upper layer. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Supermarket refrigeration systems for demand response in smart grids

    Författare :Tommie Månsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Supermarket; Demand-side management; Smart-Grid; Energy efficiency; Food retail; Demandresponse; Thermal modelling; Refrigerated Display Cabinet; Renewable energy;

    Sammanfattning : With an increasing share of intermittent renewable energy sources in the electrical grid, the need for adapting the demand to the available supply of electricity becomes increasingly important. Within this thesis, the demand response capacity by supermarket refrigeration systems are investigated and methods for enabling it is developed. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Avoiding greenhouse gas emissions using flexibility in smart thermal grids

    Författare :Jay Hennessy; Hailong Li; Justin Chiu; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; district heating; thermal grids; flexibility; avoided emissions; thermal storage; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The Paris Agreement on climate change entered into force in 2016 and has been ratified by 193 of the 197 Parties to-date, followed by country targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions, not least through an increasing penetration of renewable energy sources. In its 2021 annual World Energy Outlook, the IEA envisages a Net-Zero Emissions by 2050 scenario (NZE) in which renewables as a percentage of total energy supply increase from around 10% in 2020 to over 65% in 2050 and is reflected by a similar change in the percentage of variable renewables in total generation, thereby increasing the need for system flexibility. 5. 10. From Passive to Active Electric Distribution Networks

    Författare :Javier Campillo; Erik Dahlquist; Wu Jianzhong; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Active distribution networks; smart grids; smart Meters; real-time pricing; demand-side management; electric vehicles; power systems; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Large penetration of distributed generation from variable renewable energy sources, increased consumption flexibility on the demand side and the electrification of transportation pose great challenges to existing and future electric distribution networks. This thesis studies the roles of several actors involved in electric distribution systems through electricity consumption data analysis and simulation models. LÄS MER
