  1. 1. Small-Small : Moral Economy and the Marketspace in Northern Ghana

    Författare :Ulrik Jennische; Christina Garsten; Johan Lindquist; Sten Hagberg; Dinah Rajak; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Ghana; small-scale trade; moral economy; informality; space and place; citizenship; socialantropologi; Social Anthropology;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past decade, the Ghanaian government has tried to include and accommodate the many people working in the so-called informal economy. This formalization process is in line with a global market-driven development discourse. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Product innovation in small established enterprises : Managing processes and resource scarcity

    Författare :Lars Löfqvist; Lars Bengtsson; Jenny Janhager-Stier; Matti Kaulio; Helena Forsman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :innovation process; small enterprises; product innovation; resources; resource scarcity; SMEs; bootstrapping; cash flow; commercialization; design process; lead users; motivation; NPD; small companies; small firms; innovation management; Penrose; resource dependence theory;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines product innovation processes in small established enterprises. The research questions are: (1) what motivates small established enterprises to innovate, (2) how do small established enterprises perform product innovation, and (3) how do small established enterprises manage resource scarcity in their product innovation processes? To answer the research questions, a multiple case study approach was chosen with three small established enterprises as cases and different product innovation processes as embedded units of study. 3. 3. Small remnant habitats : Important structures in fragmented landscapes

    Författare :Jessica Lindgren; Sara Cousins; Regina Lindborg; Adam Kimberley; Ove Eriksson; Hans Henrik Bruun; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alpha-diversity; Beta-diversity; Biological pest control; Canopy cover; Connectivity; Ecosystem function; Fleshy fruits; Forest edge; Forest management; Forest specialist species; Fragmentation; Functional diversity; Gamma-diversity; Grassland specialist species; Green infrastructure; Habitat amount hypothesis; Island biogeography; Midfield islets; Plant diversity; Plant-pollinator interaction; Pollination; Remnant habitat; Seed predation; Small habitats; Species richness; Structural heterogeneity; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The world-wide intensification of agriculture has led to a decline in species richness due to land use change, isolation, and fragmentation of natural and semi-natural habitats in agricultural and forestry landscapes. As a consequence, there is a current landscape management focus on the importance of green infrastructure to mitigate biodiversity decline and preserve ecosystem functions e. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Temporal events in neuronal differentiation and cell death : expression and processing of the Alzheimer's amyloid precursor protein family and a protein at the nuclear pore

    Författare :Marie Beckman; Kerstin Iverfeldt; David H. Small; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurochemistry; Neurokemi; Neurochemistry and Neurotoxicology; neurokemi och neurotoxikologi;

    Sammanfattning : The present study had two major objectives: 1) to elucidate the involvement of Alzheimer’s amyloid precursor protein (APP) family in neuronal differentiation, and the effect of the Alzheimer’s disease (AD)-linked mutation APPV642I on signal transduction; 2) to investigate the fate of the nuclear pore complex protein POM121 during apoptosis and to examine the possibility of using green fluorescent protein (GFP)-labelled POM121 as a non-invasive sensor of apoptosis in living (non-fixed) cells.APP is the parent protein of the b-amyloid peptide, which is the major peptide constituent in the “senile plaques” of AD. 5. 5. Tropomyosin in Normal and Malignant Cells and the Action of Picropodophyllin on the Microfilament and Microtubule Systems

    Författare :Li-Sophie Zhao Rathje; Uno Lindberg; Roger Karlsson; J. Victor Small; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tropomyosin; Actin; Picropodophyllin; Tubulin; Cell motility; Cancer; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; cellbiologi; Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Cell motility is a fundamental process, enabling cells to migrate, for instance during embryogenesis, tissue repair and defense. Force is generated by two protein systems, which also participate in cell proliferation, control macromolecular and organelle distribution and determine the fine structure of the cell interior.
