  1. 21. Densities and viscosities of slags : modeling and experimental investigations

    Författare :Mikael Persson; Seshadri Seetharaman; Rob Brooks; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; density; nolar volume; thermodynamics; enthalpies; model; slags; oxide melts; viscosity; mould flux; continuous casting; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The present dissertation describes part of the efforts directed towards the development of computational tools to support process modeling. This work is also a further development of the Thermoslag software developed in the Division of Materials Process Science, KTH. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Investigation on the self-healing capabilties of asphaltic materials using neutron imaging

    Författare :Adrian Markari; Nicole Kringos; Anders Kaestner; Romain Balieu; Lily Poulikakos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Self-healing; bituminous materials; neutron imaging; sample size effect; reconstruction; image processing; volumetric analysis; Structural Engineering and Bridges; Bro- och stålbyggnad;

    Sammanfattning : Bitumen acts as a binding agent in asphalt mixtures where it binds the aggregates together. It is known for its potential to heal small cracks and recover its mechanical properties under the right conditions. Though this self-healing property is known, there is currently a lack of knowledge about the mechanisms that drive the process. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Towards nanodosimetry: therapeutic radiation measurements using the variance method

    Författare :Linda Eliasson; Ayse Nyberg; Torbjörn Bäck; Jan Lillhök; Anja Almén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atomic; Subatomic and Astrophysics; Atomär fysik; subatomär fysik och astrofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding how radiation damage occurs in human tissue seems to lie in the knowledge of energy depositions in DNA-size volumes, with diameters typically around a few nanometres. In such small volumes the energy transfers are stochastic and described using distributions of events along a particle track and relevant mean values. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Internal Dosimetry Development and Evaluation of Methods and Models

    Författare :Lena M Jönsson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tomografi; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology; Clinical physics; crypt cells; intestine; radionuclide; scintillation camera; sestamibi; activity quantification; conjugate view method; Monte Carlo simulation; internal dosimetry; Nuclear medicine; radiobiology; Nukleärmedicin; radiobiologi; medicinsk instrumentering; radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Radionuclide therapy requires patient-specific planning of the absorbed dose to target volumes, in most cases tumours, in order to achieve an expected biological effect, taking into account that the absorbed doses to normal organs and tissues should be kept as low as reasonably achievable. Therefore, the calculation of absorbed doses has to be as accurate as possible. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Tools for the Advancement of Radiopharmaceutical Therapy

    Författare :Emma Mellhammar; Forskningsgruppen för Systemisk strålterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiopharmaceutical therapy; Nuclear medicine; Monte Carlo simulation; Intratherapeutic preclinical PET; Alpha particles; Beta Particles; radionuclides; Radiobiology; γ-H2AX; Dosimetry;

    Sammanfattning : Radiopharmaceutical therapy is used to treat cancers and other diseases with radiolabeled pharmaceuticals. The treatment targets specific cells, and the emitted ionizing radiation cause cytotoxic damage. Dosimetry is performed to estimate the absorbed dose from the energy deposited in the body. LÄS MER
