11. Nanocellulose based affinity membranes for water purification: Processing technologies for optimal adsorption of dyes and metal ions
Sammanfattning : The aim of current study was to fabricate high flux affinity membrane with mechanical stability, porosity and high functionality for capturing of contaminants (dyes and metal ions) from water. Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCSL) and cellulose nanofibers (CNFSL) as well as a special grade of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCBE) isolated following bioethanol pilot scale process were used for the membrane fabrication. 12. Reactive filter materials for ammonium and phosphorus sorption in small scale wastewater treatment
Sammanfattning : Existing small scale wastewater treatment systems in Nordic countries have generally low treatment efficiency regarding phosphorus and nitrogen. Even though only 15% of the Swedish population is connected to on-site wastewater treatment systems, the total discharge of phosphorus from these systems exceeds the total discharge from all municipal treatment plants in Sweden. 13. Investigation of nitrogen recovery from concentrated wastewater
Sammanfattning : Nitrogen recovery from wastewater treatment for fertilizers is a research topic that exists at the intersection of multiple topics important to the future of sustainable society. First, nitrogen recovery from wastewater implies a departure from the current methods of nitrogen mitigation, which involve nitrogen removal by conversion of various aqueous species to inert nitrogen gas. 14. Remediation of TNT-contaminated water by using industrial low-cost residue pine bark
Sammanfattning : In the process of demilitarization of explosives, army ammunition plants generate a waste stream known as pink water. The principal component of the wastewater is the nitro-aromatic compound 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT). LÄS MER
15. A step forward in using QSARs for regulatory hazard and exposure assessment of chemicals
Sammanfattning : According to the REACH regulation chemicals produced or imported to the European Union need to be assessed to manage the risk of potential hazard to human health and the environment. An increasing number of chemicals in commerce prompts the need for utilizing faster and cheaper alternative methods for this assessment, such as quantitative structure-activity or property relationships (QSARs or QSPRs).
